Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    Intercooler spray

I was looking into the different type of fogger systems that are available to spray an intercooler with and I have read that co2 and nitrous are both advantageous, but can be harmful as well. I was also looking at water spray, but didn't do too much research on water. Just wondering if anyone has had any first hand experience with this type of cooling method?

Water has to be turned into a mist so you will need mist nozzles and a decent amount of pressure.
Water isn't really all that great unless you can find a way to keep it cold (at the track a water/ice mix would be good) but if just driving around, plain water at ambient temp won't have as good effect, if any.

I've looked into doing it, but never got around to finding a good set of mist nozzles that would work properly.

just pissing in the wind here maybe...my wife has this garden and she uses these sprayers that use 1/4 ID tubing...they mist pretty well...they make several types of sprayers from sprinkler style to 90* mist up to 360* mist...could mount on the side of the IC

I'm not sure exactly what you guys are talking about this might help. We bought 'em from lowes and wal-mart in garden/sprinkler isle. The sprayers are bout the size of my finger tip. They mist pretty well using water press. and our water press is actually LOW.

Low powered pump plus these may do the trick

the purple at the end of the green tubing come off easily, then up towards the top there is a black on/off switch, then the sprayer head. Valve leaks when you turn it but if the pump controlled the on/off then that could be removed.

I've heard that methanol injection has a drastic effect even without adding timing... you can set it up so that it starts spraying at 6psi, if you are running 8psi for example. You may need to add a little bit of fuel but if you are already running no leaner than 11.5:1 at full boost then you may not need to tune it depending on how much methanol you spray. It should get closer to 12:1 which would be safe with methanol. Plus you should be able to add a little timing with it and safely pick up some power.
The kit can be made for 100-200. I think closer to 200 when everything is said and done. I am currently saving up for this.

o.k so it seems that water/alcohol is the preferred method. Thanks for the links, this could be a project for me a little later on.

Your best bet would be to choose meth injection. Sure the water will be on the intercooler but its really not that much to make a difference.

But you can get a kit or custom make one after you buy the injectors plus the fittings. All you really need is one injector a high enough pump to pressure the system properly without pulsating.

And a strap to hold it down along with a checkvalve to make sure you dont actually flood the aircharge system to prevent the water from pooling when the system is not in use.

And perhaps a wide open throttle switch solinoid to spray when your flooring it to activate it. Along with some all around weather plumbing see through lines which are nice and thick enough to hold up to the punishment.

And perhaps a secondary basemap to lean it out a little because you will be running a little richer than usual in supplement of all the extra fuel that will be dumped into the combustion chamber. Along with the water that will keep the motor running more efficiently being that it will sense more air and fuel.

You have to get all that in check once you make a simple hard-pipe and have the bungs welded to it and put the injectors attached to it with the filters inside for good measure. You can even use your washer resevoir to hold the liquid.
