turbo timer?

The timer basically keeps your car running for a predetermined amount of time AFTER you turn it off and remove the key. This helps drain the oil out from the turbo. Most people will say, just stay out of boost for like 2 minutes before parking and you'll be fine. Like most things we do nowadays to our cars, there is no conclusive proof for either side. It's more or less a personal choice thing. Run it if you want or don't.

u can keep it running or have a timer, we set ours to 30 sec. around town but if we have been driving it hard we let it cool down for at least two mins. its supposed to remove the hot oil from the turbo and help cool the turbo down it is supposed to extend the life of the turbo.
when u install make sure and do the safty parts too, like if the parking brake gets released the car will shut off.

I used to think they were pretty pointless...save the money and just let the car run.
Then I started to think about all the times I am in a hurry and wouldn't be able to let it run. 30sec isn't bad, 60 is prolly better but that's a long time to sit there if you're running late.
my only issue, how does this work with an alarm (self arming) or with remote start systems?____

They need to co-operate with your particular alarm - Ie you need to have an alarm that is turbo timer compatible.
I have never run a turbo timer, I just do it manually since my alarm won't accept one - To understand why you want one, you first need to understand why you need one.
A turbo timer is a simple way of continuing oil flow when the vehicle is at rest (i.e no / very low work being carried out) When the vehicle is worked hard (full throttle/full boost) the turbo creates very high temps.
Without cool oil circulation the turbo can end up "coking", basically the oil burns and ends up solidifying to the turbo housing internally potentially blocking the oil passage to the bearings and return line

the Compustar and Alladin alarms have built in turbo timers. I used to sell turbo timers and harnesses. but have never used one myself. Never really saw the need for one. I don't smash on my car from stop light to stop light. Nor do I have a problem letting my car idle for a lil while before I step out of it.
