Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    turbo question

I was given a turbo, which i believe was from a neon srt-4, i was just wondering if this can be used with the f22a4. i know ill need a custom header or maybe just reflange a 1st gen dsm manifold.
i also dont know the condition as far as the bearings. if i spin it by finger it feels tough to move but then it spins freely before stopping. any input would be appreciated.
ill post picks up after i get back from the motor pool at work. (ps my tanks has a 1000 hp tubine engine that runs on jet fuel!!)

To check the bearings, you want to check for shaft play.
Side to side, and in and out, a very small amount is acceptable.
I can't say much about the turbo itself - We don't get the SRT4 over here, so I've no idea on its size.

Looking at that cast exhaust housing, you're going to have to do a lot of custom work. The way that the down pipe outlet is facing just really isn't right for our cars. Take the DSM manifold for example the inlet for the exhaust points down. This means the inlet on the turbo must point up. The exhaust usually comes out the side of the turbo 90 degrees to the angle of the inlet. What you have would shoot exhaust gasses right back into your manifold or engine depending on what manifold you use.

Now, I'm not saying it can't be done, but It's going to be pretty custom. Your gonna have to make pretty much everything I think.

ya i was thinkin of making a custom manifold that comes down then up into the turbo, kinda like a big "U" not really sure.
im going to the field tommorrow so ill be outta the loop for a minute but im gonna see where a custom exhaust shop is in LA. Im in fort irwin (barstow) so ill have to go there. if any body knows of a good shop please tell me thanks.

              My shopping list is now:
              Injectors

              Header
              Down pipe
              ECU
