Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    IM change affects boost?

Can a change in your intake manifold result in an increase decrease in available boost?

Say from being limited to 8 psi...changing IM and now having 12psi?

sure your old one wasnt crack/leaking/bad gasket? 4psi is a huge increase though

It increases your volumetric efficiency(if going with a better one), which will cause your turbo to spool up sooner and have the ability to produce more boost.

Unless you do not have a wastegate and your motor ran COMPLETELY like shit, the chances a manifold change caused your boost to raise 4psi is unlikely.

Sounds like what you did was change your vacuum source to your wastegate and or your boost gauge. That does make a huge difference.

A buddy of mine has a car that was not getting any more than 20 psi. He installed a 120 wet shot kit, and a new aftermarket IM ... during his initial dyno pull with the new setup, he shows 27 psi W/OUT even using the NOS...

I'm not too familiar with forced induction yet, so I'm curious to know how that could happen.

he could have altered the boost controller.

his boost guage could be off...

boost in a honda vs boost in a dsm, has showed me in a honda 4psi is alot, in a dsm, 4 psi, is barely noticable.

Okay...so there are a few factors that could be involved, I guess.

I had no idea that it would make a difference, but we're talking about a Nissan SR20DET with much work done to it...

Very significant detail being a completely different engine. What IM have you changed it to?
