From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Fixed the oil pan and now to the next issue... help!

Another update...I fixed the oil pan leak...it was a bad weld on the bung. o well...now my new set of problems...it is shooting oil out of the compressor side...badly. its all over that side of the engine bay. I'm guessing either needs a rebuild or theres a backup of oil in the turbo and its blowing past the seals. but I have a ss -10an return and a -3an feed. I believe its more than efficient. should I get a restrictor or not???

also...I talked to a guy at a turbo rebuild shop and he said it doesnt sound like its the turbo b/c i already replaced the rings last yr. he said it could be a crankcase pressure issue.

Id try a restrictor, as it could be blow by.
Also, what brand is your big 16g? How many miles on the rebuild last year?

Are you running a catch can? How is your PCV system set up?

My friend had the turbo lying at his house...he got it in a package deal with a greddy fmic for his eclipse so he sold me the turbo. It seemed in good shape. and I only replaced the rings inside. the guy at gpopshop.com said that that could be a likely cause so I took the cheap way out...

As for the catch can I removed it bc it imploded on me...i made one out of pvc and i guess it got too hot one day. I actually dont have any pvc running right now...I dont have a filter on my turbo so I dont kno how to run 1.

Good to hear you got your leak fixed
Your catch can imploded? or exploded lol?

When you say it's shooting the oil out - Do you mean you can literally see it flowing out?
Take the turbo to a shop and have it professinally rebuilt and balanced.
The -3 lines should be enough of a restriction - I run -4 feed into my 16G and have had no problems with oil leaking past the seals.

My plan is to get a cheap 14b that works just for an experiment...Ill put it on just like my 16g and if the 14b works fine ill sell it again and rebuild the 16g...i just want to rule that out for money's sake...a rebuild for it is like 350 :-/

Changing to a 14B, means new tune also. Imo stay with the 16G, for economy around town, and better performance overall.
Mmmm its a hard one - to do that just to rule out the turbo - $ wise that is.

A rebuild kit yourself should only be around 100 bucks or so, I just bought one for my brother's 14b from forced performance, was about 112 shipped. If you send it off for rebuild, then yes, it will be about 350-450 which is rather expensive, as I just bought an MHI evo 3 ported big 16g for just over 500.
If you don't know the turbo brand, it could be one of the ebay turbos, which could explain it going bad after just a year.
Do you have any pics of the oil and the turbo?

Im not going to change to the 14b....im going to install it to see if it shoots oil out like my 16g is...if it does than its another issue u kno..

and also it is a Mutsubishi Turbo..its not an ebay one. I kno the rebuild kitsare cheap but ive had so many odd problems that im not ruling out anything yet.

Has the turbo been sitting for 2 years? The internals could be bad from sitting for so long. And yes, the rebuild is doable, and I believe there is a diy on here from someone that did it.
My brother's rebuild kit is on its way at the moment, but when it comes in, I am sure he will be putting it in asap. Ill let you know if he has any pointers or anything when doing his.
I think I would go crazy if I couldnt drive my cb7 for 2 years.
