Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    Chipped P06 question

Might be wrong section, not sure.
I saw a lot of P06 ECU's for sale on Ebay for no more than $100 - $150 including chip and tuning to your engine specifications.

I did some math, and i can actually save a whopping 1000$, buying said ECU and have it fine-tuned instead of paying for a complete dyno tune, which is 1400$ here in Denmark.

My question is therefor, is it perhaps any of the CB7tuner ECU guru's that are selling these items, using eCtune? If yes, i would very much like to get in contact, because i'd very much like to save 1000$.

I am not very strong on the ECU, i know the basics. Is this a bad approach?
The ECU's that are for sale, would be identical to the results of a 1400$ tune hardware wise.
Difference is i'm paying 100 - 150 for a ECU and a basemap more or less tuned for my engine, except it isnt tested on my engine, and because of that i would just pay for a finetune which is far more less.

I guess i am asking for help to get my hands on a ecu that is pretuned to my engine specs, which i can then get fine tuned. Because we don't have any professionals at this, here in Denmark.
They are all amateurs, and all have inflicting opinions. The members on this board appear to be much more professional, and to be honest, i would be more comfortable with a F22A CB7 Ecu guru's work, than the head of the Honda Club Denmark, which is the recommended tuner here in Denmark and i dunno, i just have a bad feeling about it, i don't think the results would be impressive to say the least.

If you are looking to do the tuning yourself. I would go with CROME or Neptune over eCtune. Calvin kind of dropped the support for eCtune. Whereas the support for CROME has never diminished and there are still many people using it. Although Neptune would be my $$$ pick.

As far as picking a chipped ECU and basemap. I would suggest buying one from Chris @ Xenocron.com. He is a reputable tuner. You would be spending your money wisely.

I dunno about doing it my self, i would probably fuck everything up that is possible to fuck up . I have to do some extensive research, that's for sure.

No the point was really, buying a P06 or whatever required that is chipped and mapped to my engine specifications, and then have it fine tuned if needed, and i noted that there's some members here that got some very good reputation in doing this. Was just wondering really who wanted to earn some paper.

I will look into your recommendations, thank you Ghostaccord

      About the Xenocron:

Would this be the ECU i need? http://www.xenocron.com/chipped-obd1-vtec-p-154.html

Can i order it with a base map for my setup and that's it? I can take it straight to the tuner for finetuning? Sorry for my ignorance.

Yes that is a chipped ECU that you can use and yes it comes with a basemap that will start your engine and allow you to take it for fine tuning.

Quoted from the link you posted above....lol

          Oh damn.
Well that all the confirmation i need i guess
I can't believe this stuff is so expensive in my country, this is peanuts, i love it.
Looks like my build will be complete sooner that i thought.

EDIT: My tuner doesn't like the idea, he started talking about stuff i have no clue of. Wanting to learn some more about ECU tuning to be able understand his words, led me to a giant headache.

Guess i'm gonna having to start saving some money. The pricetag is insane on having your car dynotuned, 1000$ ++, damn this just set me back again, i might not finish the build this season
