Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    CEL questions...

Chipped a P06, as typical with new battery, but with a VTEC conversion.
Yes I did get the correct conversion for the board type.
I have done plenty of conversions, but this is the first time I get this error.

Normally the initial ignition switch to ON starts the CEL then it goes away.
This time, it takes the CEL about 5 seconds to come on and stays on.

This is not the typical symptoms of a dead ecu, as I have seen those.
I pull the jumper on J1 and get the symptoms, which tells me it is something with stock equipment. I have replaced the battery as noted above...

    anyone have any other ideas?

Have you checked to see what the code is? It would aid troubleshooting immensely.

A bad ECU can show many different symptoms...

I forgot to mention, no code displayed.

just a solid light, normally signs of bad ecu.
so that is my last option, just trying to think of anything else first.

      thanks coach.

I had a bad P13 once. It ran the car just fine, VTEC engaged and no symptoms other than a solid CEL. It never turned off. Replaced the ECU and no CEL since. You could try a stock ECU for the motor and see what it does...

well I chip ecus for side money. I have done about 100 of them.
this is the first time this happened.

it is an ecu I have for a customer, so replacing the ecu doesn't solve my ecu issues. I am trying to figure out what is wrong with this one. Hope that clears that up.

I am not a beginner when it comes to this stuff, I have been soldering ecus for quite sometime.

I am looking for the more advanced tuners to step up. I am guessing it is an ecu issue tho.

thanks anyways. but replacing the ecu is not what I am looking for.

I guess it's possible that the ECU was bad to begin with...

checking caps and resistors tomorrow! that is about the last thing I can come up with!

                off topic:
im sorry for not being able to help you any steve but i do want to point out the fact that as a person who chips ecus on a some what daily basis im sure you check all of the ecus you get before putting any time or money into chipping it. so im pretty sure you woulnt be posting this is you knew it was a bad ecu in the first place...
