Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

Anyone want a cam swap write-up?

Hey guys. I am going to start my Delta cam swap on sunday and I didn't know if anyone wanted a write-up on how to do it w/ pictures, torque specs, etc. If anyone wants it, let me know and I will post a write-up as soon as I have my cam swap done.

It appears that I won't have my valve springs for a while so I will post up as soon as I have the car back together. It will probably be about next saturday before I post.

Hey guys KMS in GA sent me the wrong valve springs, so It will be at least next weekend before I get the write up done. I hate those people and I would never buy from them again. I tried to contact JG, but they never answer the phone or return calls. So I'll let you know when I get it all back together and I will include my impressions of the new cam.

So KMS valve springs is what you're going with...I see. I have honestly not heard anything about them so I'm interested in knowing if they worked well with your setup and maybe like 6 months down the road if they held up with no probs. I have heard that JG valve spring retainers (at least this guy said) some broke on him causing him to drop a valve. His cylinder head was assembled by JG as well, so it's not like it was his fault with a bad install. He mentioned something about JG not stress testing their retainers and that's why it failed. Take that for what it's worth. They also didn't take responsibility for this whole problem.

The valve springs from KMS are actually D series springs, the guy told me that no one has ever manufactured an f series spring. He said that they have been tested on f series motors and they have held up very well and worked great. He told me that the D series springs are the closest to the f series. The reason the first set they sent me didn't work is because they were too tall so they got into coil bind when adjusted. I will let you know what happens.

Hey guys. Sorry I havn't been able to post the write-up yet. This has been taking longer than expected (spring complications). I am heading off to college thursday, so it might be a couple weeks before I can post the write-up, but I will post as soon as possible. I will at least post my impression of the 272 regrind. Sorry for the delay.

                          Why is it always springs?

My gf and I have been putting a new intake manifold on her El Camino and guess whats holding us back? Thats right. Springs. Not valve springs, just springs for the carb (throttle n such) but springs none the less.
