Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

why are forged pistons used for this NA build?

    http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2682719/1

they're not specific on the engine, but i was watching the show at the time and it was a B series.
why did they use forged pistons for the NA engine, everyone says there are no gains from it and it's only for boost.

cuz they have the money and if you said cast pistons people would be like woah! can dey do dat? I herd without forged yuor engine blows up! Also it is a b-series.
but honestly I figured the same.

not that they were forged pistons but probably domed pistons.

      higher compression = power.

couldn't the same dome-top pistons be cast and do the job?

forged is lighter, more rigid and stronger.

yea, and you are already paying 200 for factory high domes and that doesnt even come with rings.

Forged pistons are stronger, which applies to high revs the same way it does boost.

              Added strength = added durability.

                  the answer is simple...

an NA B16 is not going to get to 220whp on any stock cast pistons... no matter how much you punch it out.

the reason they used them is because its a built motor. once there is more air in a cylinder than factory, factory pistons can crack or blow. forged pistons are 10x stronger than factory, the can handle extreme pressure, and their alot lighter which helps out the crank.

so if i actually built up my f22 like that, then using forged pistons wouldnt be a bad idea...

it's just that people say it's pointless unless you are running boost or high compression
i dont plan on either, lol
