From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.


The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.


For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.


Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

    should i learn to drive stick with a lighter flywheel and short shifter?

    i want to do a transmission swap soon, but i gotta learn to drive stick after the swap too. but i also want to get a short shifter and lighter flywheel.
    would it be too much for me to handle?

    shorter throws wont really matter, and if you can handle the revs, and have some throttle control, i think you should be fine.

      my best advice to learn how to drive stick is to understand eactly how a clutch and flwheel actually works. once you understand this to its fullest, then you can better control what yu are doing

        well its probably the best time as any, it took me awhile to learn to drive m civic with the stage 3 clutch, but I am getting the hang of it. If i were you talk to a friend with a stick and see if you can practice on his car, also go to how things work and type in manual car or something like that, they have a few good pointers.

            Not everyones the same but the first time i drove a stick i already understood how a manual tranny worked so it was no problem.

            you prolly wont be able to drive perfect for the first couple weeks. like the first time you take off on a hill, you'll prolly end up pelling out a lil.

              It took me 4days before I was on my own driving. I think alot of it was fear of cars behind me because I couldn't stand tailgaters when I'm on hills because I would roll back slightly...but out here in in SanFrancisco especially, people like to inch up as close as they can to your bumper for whatever reason which is very annoying. Balancing out on hills and starting off in first gear is the most hardest things in the beginning. After awhile it becomes second nature and you don't even think about it. Right now I like break checkin' those idiots that inch up too close. When I see them coming up, I just keep on rolling back and fourth playing around creating my space on the hill.

              Another thing is, not all cars feel the same. I drove a few of my friends CBs that are manual and they don't feel nothing like mine. Compared to theirs, I have to fight with my clutch more as it feels more stiffer to press down...but I actually like it that way. Some newer cars I believe are more forgiving and easier to drive like a 2007 Si. I couldn't believe how far I let go of the clutch and it doesn't feel like it will stall out. Also while shifting threw gears...i swear the clutch is so soft it feels like the clutch is there for decoration and not even needed.

              If you have a friend that trusts you not to burn the clutch or thump real hard and break motor mounts j/k on that part You can always get your folks to rent out a car to practice on.

              But believe me man, you won't regret changing your car to a 5-speed. It will be much faster and more fun to drive.
