Please DO NOT Post In The General Section
From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.
The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.
For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.
Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.
Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

CLICK!!!!
It can be done and made to last. Get the crank balanced and you should be good to go. But with all that work you might as well go with some mahle pistons and a set of aftermarket rods. But as you can see its possible to pick up some power with tuning with all stock parts.Oil leak? What oil leak? That's just sweat from all that horsepower!

I've read through the entire N/A section from the beginning now, trying to find all the information I can about it.
Now all I need is to do it.

Do you mean the valve clearance with the piston?
I'm aware of that if so, but thanks for the heads-up.

I've seen a few of them where after you put the h23 crank and rods in, the piston hits the top of the block. It doesn't happen often but it does happen. Just like a few h22 needs head work for cams as aftermarket drop in cams dont drop in. It rare if it happens but just to put the warning out there.

stupid question, but you'd use an OEM head gasket with the cometic head gasket as well?

yeah, JDM pistons with a .054" headgasket should prevent any valve clearance issues.

you sure it's only 11.1?
When I used Cisco's calculator posted in one of the stickies, the compression came out to be 11.5:1 even with a .054" headgasket.
I could have overlooked something though.
When I get home I'll post up what I entered in the calculator and see if it's right.

Becareful with the stickied version of Cisco's calculator. There is an absolute value in there that will really screw up some numbers.
H23CB7 is right about the compression ratio. Depending on how much the head is milled and what thickness HG you use, you can get anywhere from about 10.9-11.3:1 compression. I'd guess he used a .051" HG and milled the head .005".

k, that totally cleared up my question. thanks.
This internal hybrid seems ideal for us... most of us have spare f22ax crankshafts and rods lying around anyway. I'm a little bit in disbelief of the posted 238 whp on that h22 in the ht link on the previous page, but even if its exaggerate by 20 whp, it'd still be a fantastic gain.
