Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

1.why is it important that the rod bearing tang is always on the exhaust side is there an advantage?
2.also why is it bad to rub oil with ur finger on the rod bearing surface.. i see ton of people do it and they don't have engine failure..

    3. my friend said one way to tell if u have a blown headgasket is open the radiator cap and rev the engine.. as we rev.. coolant started to shoot up really fast and splash everywhere... headgasket was blown anyways/. but how does doing that help.. what causes the coolant to shoot up as opposed to suck in..

    1). No idea.
2). The oils and acids on your finger will etch the bearing, causing imperfections.
3). The pressure in the cylinder is forcing pressure past the headgasket it, pressurizing the water jackets and shooting bubbles and crap out the overflow.

      1. it may be for oiling purposes and the tang are always opposite of eash other to prevent the bearing from going in circles and walking

      2. the bearing should be really clean and assembled with engine assembly lube

assemble it with engine lube, and after 500 miles or so you change the oil again, and get rid of all of the lube and other lubricants used to assemble your engine, thats the correct way to do it, im sure the other way works but the first time you fire that engine i dont think the oil applied by your fingertip is gonna do much good, it takes a little bit for the engine oil to come into full effect

or the way my boss puts it, "Do you fuck your girlfriend dry or with no lube?...treat the motor like your girlfriend."
