Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    Compression on rebuilt engine

Hi guys...so i got my engine in and running.

Went through the break-in as recommended by many online sites (the whole load the engine to seat the rings).

It was overbored to 85.5mm so it has a little mroe displacement, but compression isn't up to what i think it should be.

It's about 150psi flat accross on all cylinders with a decent amount of blowby. there is only about 150miles on the engine. Is this something to be worried about? I was prety sure i loaded the rings enough...gave it full throttle and then full decel, only too about 4500rpm.

i'll give it another 200 miles or so and then check compression again, i'm hoping its just a time thing and it'll come up a bit over time.

Prob a time thing. Engine should be pretty healthy if comp results are pretty even. Maybe your just paranoid? Just give it time and see wahts up.

To be honest, I think you should drive on it a bit more and then recheck.

ya...came up to 185. I dont' know why it was low in the frist place...perhasp it wasn't fully broken in or there wasn't enough oil in the cylinders at the time.

now just have to take the DOHC off...the journals got warn a bit too much from the spun bearing metal. Whines a lot.

How many miles and what type of driving before you got the 185 psi readings?

about 350km's of aggressive driving...varied RPMs and burst of near WOT and then full vacuum. but dont' WOT too long or in a high gear...heat is the worst for breaking in new engines...you want to load the engine sufficiently while not creating too much heat.

Not sure when it came up to 185 or if it was just better lubricated when i tested it.
