    Cryogenic freezing??? CryO2

I just recieved the Summit Racing Sport Compact catalog, and I saw a Cryogenic freezing system (it looks like a NOS system). I was wondering if anyone here has used it and if so, could they give me some feedback on it. The system claims that it can cool down intake air, fuel , and intercoolers. I'm thinking of getting one because it sounds great for turbo applications.

you can also use it to freeze your body when you die, and then be reanimated in the future

and as far as performance gains go, id say youre looking at an increase of 10-15 bodycount at the theaters.
actually, i dont know about the subject at hand, but cold is good, so if it keeps stuff cold, then it should help

but in all honesty the system claims it can drop intake temperatures by 60% and fuel temps by about the same..that sounds pretty good to me. the way it works for the intake is that you place a bulb in your intake tube that fills with CO2 and the bulb gets to a -35 degrees farenheight. As for the the fuel, it a block that connects between the fuel line and the fuel rail and that gets -80 degrees farenheight. the complete kit is between 700 to 800 bucks..

I really don't think it's worth it. I would talk to someone that has used it Or bought it for their car. I have seen it in their catalogue and it looked pretty cool to get if it really works good

is it at the push of a button, or at wide open throttle??, i've read that the wrx i think has a sprayer on the intercooler to reduce temp.

Seems like I remember reading 1 degree is like .5 or even 1 hp. Don't quote me though.

rule of thumb is like for every 10 degrees cooler the charge u gain 1% horsepower...but there does come a time at which u can't gain anymore hp no matter how cold u make the air. In any case its all hearsay and for $300+ for just the tank and installation kit and another $150 for either the fuel mod, intake mod, or intercooler mod i don't think its truly worth it...thats just my opinion tho.

Old thread, I know... But I searched!

I just started looking into this system. Seems interesting. I wonder how it matches up to nitrous? CO2 is cheaper than nitrous for sure, and my girlfriend would feel much safer riding in my car with a tankful of CO2 rather than nitrous!

Has anyone heard any more on this? I might seriously consider it... (dumb question alert:: Think it could be possible to build my own system?

the turbo 2003ish civic si i keep racing at the track has the system. I even got the chance to put my hand on the intercooler and the sprayers while the guy activated it...verdict...my cup of ice water was colder and had more effect lol. I've run the guy many times and he got absolutely no faster between the runs that he was spraying on and the runs he didn't. If your temps are high then sure it will cool it down but its not gonna become frozen or anything. Hell it couldn't even begin to freeze my hand. But yes i am going to try to build a cheap kit when the time comes.

I just looked into parts... a 10lb tank can probably be found used for $50. I would think all you would need would be the proper solenoid (I wonder what they charge) and a little thought for the lines and electrical stuff... i don't see it costing any more than $200 to make it usable.

The fuel bars are $100 on ebay, the intake charge cooler could probably be made easily enough...

Still, prolly not worth the effort for 10hp I guess. interesting though!

If you could find a way to rig a set of "air in a can" things and have them spray upside down into your intake.

But that would be the ghetto way .

Tank, solenoid, switch/trigger and lines would all that SHOULD be needed.
