Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

I dont know the specs yet but i think the inlet is around 2.5 the out let is around 3. I really dont want it to b too high pitched. I need help with a set up i wanna run stock pipping because i jus want to run N/a rebuild. will i need a resanator? and does anyone know how these mufflers perform my friend has one on his hatch and it sounds good.....

A resonator is one part in exhaust systems that works with the muffler to reduce noise, by making sound waves "cancel each other out". The "exhaust note" is an important feature for many vehicle owners, so both the original manufacturers and the after-market suppliers use the resonator to enhance the sound in some way - in particular so-called "ricers" use resonators on their 4-cylinder engines to give an exhaust note comparable to that of a V8 engine.

Thats just my 0.02 about a resonator

Resonators are nice to have. Are you talking about building the motor to NA spec or just leaving it stock NA. Either way might as well upgrade while your at it. If you wanted something close to stock should have bought something with a 2.25" inlet or somethin.

My muffler looks like its ready to fall apart to due to rust... If you shove that OBX twin loop muffler on STOCK piping, will it sound really stupid and raspy? The last thing I want is some super raspy ricer noise coming out of the exhaust... Anyone got experience?

Yea he's right^.your better off running that muffler wit like a 2-2.25 inch piping.you will notice the difference trust me because I ran my 2.25 inch muffler on stock piping.it sucked but with the piping your car will breath better and it will have a different tone. The resonator is just there to reduce noise.
Project EP hatch on the way

This is all so true... as far as your piping, are you try'n to gain a few HP or are you just worried about the sound.....

I'd say forget the fancy twin-loop and use the money to put togather a decent exhaust SYSTEM, not only will it sound better but it'll perform much better.

If you have the stock exhaust system you should have a resinator. If its removed then it magnifies the exhaust sound. Before purchasing it checkonline from to style ( probaly ebaymotors ) to see what type of sound it gives off eg ricey, bassy, low tone, etc..
