Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    h22 rebuild help

Alright about 3 weeks ago my h22 spun the #2 cylinder rod bearing. I am going to rebuild the motor, and from the lloks of it i think im going to need a new crank, what i was wondering was what other options do i have besides the h22 crank, and how reliable will it be. I am going to use arp head studs, and as far as pistons and rods go im not sure, i have a complete set of pistons and rods out of a 98 h22a4 and i was also wondering if those would work or not(mine is a h22a1).

Not sure about the H, but cranks can usually be reground. Then you would need sized bearings to go with the grind. Someone else here should know for sure.

yea thats the first thing i was gonna have checked when i bring the crank to the machine shop. Hopefully i dont need to replace the crank because they are hard to find and kinda expensive

if you spun a bearing its probably gonna be cheaper to find a good crank then fix the one you have. honda cranks have a special coating on the journals. if you get your crank reground you wont be able to run honda bearings.

personally i wont use anything other oem bearings in my motors, acls would be my 2nd choice and i dont belieive they make oversize bearings either.

just find another crank and build it right the first time, trust me.

that too depends on what you want to do with your build. you can use an f22 crank and rods and have a stroked h22. its basically an h23 then. if you want to do it right then have the crank balanced and micro polished at a machine shop. i would also use oem bearings or acls.
