Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    Weight reduction

Ok, I'm giving some thought to weight reduction... Stage I, for any Gran Turismo fans

What kind of reduction do you think I could get easily? Without buying any expensive parts (carbon fiber stuff) or removing crazy things? I'm talking about taking out my back seat, passenger seat, emptying my trunk of everything... running on as little gas as I dare...

What else could I do, and how much weight do you think I could take out? I was playing around with some of those online calculators, and I realize that if I can drop a few pounds, I can pick up some major speed! (well, kinda...)

well mike the back seat really doesnt weight that much so its not really worth taking out. i mean you take out your spare and shit but still its like every hundred pounds is a tenth of a second

Yeah, I figure if I can knock off about 200lbs, I'd be in good shape. I'll be getting a CF hood eventually, but no time soon. There are more important things! (wheels, for example)

Where is safety on your priority list? You can remove your bumpers and take off some of the reenforcement and put the covers back on. 92AccodDX, I think I hold a different view point on the back seat. I think it's a whole lot heavier than it looks. Top and bottom is a good 40 pounds. Also, all the little things add up. Take off those tow hooks, and exhaust heat shielding underneath. And most important of all...NO FAT GIRLFRIENDS!
My Members' Ride Thread - It's a marathon build, not a sprint. But keep me honest on the update frequency!

          I keeps em skinny...

I'm looking mainly for modifications I can do either at the track, or just before I go there. I guess I could take the reinforcement out of the bumpers... The track isn't all that far from my house (and even closer to my mom's, if I allow her to know what I'm doing...) Safety wouldn't be all that much of an issue in that case. That's a really good idea! Something I never thought of, which is my reason for posting this!

My butt dyno likes my lack of crap.

The door panels and headliner are heavy. Definitely the hood. Carpet is heavy as piss. So is the pasenger seat. I say take out the passenger seat and leave the rear bench. More legroom and less weight.
