I searched and never found one straight answer. Do our cars need back pressure for torque. I know some people have said back pressure-bad. But some have also said, again, it helps on our torque which is what are 2900lb cars need. I'm wondering this because i plan on maybe stripping my exhaust off or maybe just my cat. So please, someone who knows these torquey(sp) engines and not just V8's please help-a-brothera out.

Yes N/A engines need to have some form of back pressure for torque.
But a turbo engine needs as little backpressure as possible.

If at first you don't succeed, Try again. Don't give up too easily, persistance pays off in the end.

No the exhaust manifold has very little backpressure (in comparison to the whole exhaust)
