Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

I understand the funnel effect, but . . . honestly, it being out in the open air would be FAR more effective, since air hits ALL of in the intercooler, not only the front of it (from being deflected off the top and back wall) putting a peice into the middle of the scoop to deflect air back onto the back of the WRX style scoops makes them more efficient, since air hits more of the intercooler.

topmount intercoolers tend to heat soak and reduce their efficiency a LOT.
its a neat packaging issue, but you will notice that MOST high horsepower cars will convert to a front mount since the intercooler works far better in the air flow and NOT sitting on top of o hot as hell engine...

Re-think your noobish question. Its not that its impossible, its that its impractical and inefficient. It would be different and kinda cool I think. Sleeper? Maybe.

        Or something like that.

the reason the subie intercoolers work so well is because.

            A. they were designed to have a top mount
            B. there intercoolers are like 4 inches thick, which helps a lot.

If you really wanted to do this (though i woudl advise against it if you want function), try and get your hands on a nissan pulsar top mount and make a hood scoop. They should be pretty easy to find on sr20forum.com since everyone swaps them out for a front mount
