Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    A6 runners installed

Kay, i just got done getting them on and I hooked up the hoses on the driver's side back of the IM and hook it to the runners. It only opens when i go full throttle and not when I accel. fast. They close as sooon as i start it but nothing else. We tried hooking them to every vacuum hose we could-nothing, nothing around 3500 or 4500 either. We finally settled for hooking them up to the cruise control line to keep them closed. Could someone help me out please?

You're right, its gonna open ONLY at full throttle with the IAB's hooked up to vacuum on the intake. In order for it to open up at 4700RPM and above you need to hook the intake up the OEM way, that is with a solenoid vacuum box(black box) and an A6 ECU. Check out the DIY section for instructions on this.

        1) hoses? how many do you have? there is only one
        2) doesn't need to be open at part throttle, it will only hurt power then
        3) they aren't gonna make you feel a difference, and you MAY hear them if you have an open short ram intake, other than that, you shouldn't hear or feel anything.......
        4) if they're staying closed, there is no reason to have them on at all, i don't get it

you don't have to hook them to the box, that's a waste of time according to the dynos i've personally been a part of......the vacuum ports all pretty much do the same thing, i think your expectations are ridiculous and you thought it would give you a nitrous boost.....for anyone that uses that stupid "honda did it this way because........" shit, what about this: honda does most things to sell cars........go drive a vtec car and tell me why, in the name of performance, would they make nearly all vtec cars rich with a late vtec xover......you can take your average dohc vtec car, lower the xover point some and lean it out and get 5-10hp more and take .2-.4 seconds off your 1/4 mile........

thanks fizz for making yourself look like a heel. I got them working- they now open at 35ish. I never expected a big gain- But i got one actually. In humid weather I was getting to speed faster. I even proved it- I floored it down my street and counted how long it took to get to the stop sign before i put them on- twice. Then put them on and got a pretty good difference(launchi9ng and shifting at the same points). All I did was hook them up to the black box that was connected to the bottum of the intake. (from the back of the intake to the box and to the runners) Very simple solution. Everything is running great now. so please- don't treat me like a newb b/c i asked a simple question- infact, where did I ever say or imply i was expecting a "Nitrous boost"??? I know those things aren't worth anything but like 3 or 4 to the wheels. So I believe you thought wrong.

lol so how fast were you countin ha. Counting with your head isnt reliable use a stopwatch. I agree to an extent what fizzbob said but other than that yea lol counting haha thats great lol.

both time were with my stop watch about 6 seconds. After the intake was like 5 in a half or less i think

Not running them the correct way hurts bottom end. Period.

Otherwise, they would have just put in a big hogged out manifold without dual runners.

For anyone that uses that stupid "honda did it this way to sell cars" shit, is neglecting the entire picture. The man has said himself that you only lose 1 or 2 HP by hooking them up the wrong way.

If it is only good for 3-4 HP, to begin with, then why bother hooking them up at all if you are going to lose 1/2 of the potential anyway?

If Honda didn't make some decisions in the pursuit of performance, multi stage intake manifolds and VTEC would have never been put on a production car in the first place because they cost more.

Everything Honda does is a compromise to meet a lot of different priorities. Not everything is biased toward maximum performance. That doesn't mean it wasn't part of the picture at all.

                  A6 Mainifold Question

Ok I put a JDM A6 in my sedan about a year ago and everything works just like it ought to everything was hooked up just like it should be. Yes when I stomp on the gas they open up at the correct rpm. Now here is the cool part. I just bought a 93 LX Coupe, no A6 intake and the cool Air boost valve. So I got an extra A6 manifold with the boost valve. Will it make much of a difference if I install it on the LX? Would I need an A6 ecu and is the wiring already there for the selonoid hook up to the vacuum canister?

theres no such thing as a jdm a6.

you either have a JDM F22A, OR, you have the USDM F22a6/a4/a1

So will the wiring harness have the wires in the engine loom for the selenoid? If I put the AIB and manifold on the LX will I be able to put in an A6 ecu find the wires in the loom hgook up the lil black vacuum box and go afte rof corse running the appropriate vacuum lines correctly?
