I just got an A1 from the junkyard with 106 on it, I got it home and took off the valve cover and there's rust on the valves....should i take it back? will the rust get it's self off? Also, how many quarts of tranny fluid do our cars hold, and where do you put it in?

URGENT! Rust on valves!

Is it actually rusted or is it just a kind of uniform brown color? Also, do you have auto or manual tranny? Manual tranny fluid is regular engine oil (I think 10-30 off my head) and is added through a fill plug on the side of the tranny. I think you can add auto tranny fluid through the dipstick hole.- Ghosty

the fill hole is right above the passenger side Halfshaft..on the tranny case!
can't miss it...its a BIG NUT with a washer on it
might want to jack the car up...take off that nut..and stick your finger in it....if you can't fill the fluid...fill it till it meets with the bottom of the hole...ONCE its to the bottom of the hole..put the nut back on it...and tighten it....then you're good
and yeah...its 10w30 engine fluid....if I was you ( EXkidd91 )...Id use some Lucas Oil stabilizer...SOME GOOD SHIT.....go to advanced auto or whatnot..and get that filler funnel with the tube on it..makes it BETTER to fill the MT case!!
DO NOT OVERFILL IT....or you will blow seals!

Yo..just go ahead and get a new valvetrain kit....because you don't know HOW LONG that A1 has been sitting in the boneyard...its best that you start off with NEW parts!!!92 LX. A6 with GUDE bullfrog Cam. M2S4 transmission..Gutted H23 intake mani. The rest you will just have to find out!

VALVETRAIN...( valves..Valve retainers...O rings..springs...Rocker arms )
check your springs..and whatnot...if they look OK..then just change out the valves...bUT make sure you have a extender magnet...to get those retainers..they're small half pieces that keeps the valve in place...and they're metal...so you would need a magnet to take em out...its very TIDEOUS...but its worth it....
if you have time on your hands...OR...if want..just try and rub off the rust..off all the valves with a wirebrush..and polish em up!!
if you want to go with the CHEAP route!!!
OH YEAH>.forgot...when doing valve train work..take out the spark plug for that cylinder you're doing...and use a compression tank ....stick the hose with the plug adapter into that spark plug hole...and the pressure from it will snap the valve into place...so you don't drop a valve into the combustion chamber..during startup...( DISASTEROUS!!)
when doing the valves..you have to do em ONE BY ONE...2 intake...2 exhaust...BUT one by one....use that compression pressure to push the valve snug into that retainer and into the rockerarm..!!
1 intake.. 1 intake...1 exhaust...1 exhaust...
its time consuming...BUT better to do it right ..than to replace the engine because of LOOSE valves falling into the engine!!

Get you a good valve job for the head might as well. Our cars take about 3 quarts of honda mtf. ANd everything else has basically been mentioned.

lol..yeah it is...thats why you go to Advanced Auto..or Autozone and get that funnel with that tube on the end of it...and its got a twisty valve to cut off the flow of fluid going into the tranny when filling so you don't overfill!!!
