Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

Very good possibility its a bad gasket from intake to block or from plenum to intake mani! To check buy a can off quick start or ether and spray those areas with it and if its bad it will steady the idle, Ive done this to two of my engines!!! I guarantee its a vac leak of some sort, if you dont get a CEL!

yeah, see i'm trying to figure out the problem easily because I have no money. Well not enough to buy a new IAC or FIV.

I'll check gaskets, and spray water on stuff, and check hoses!

I just had my coolant replaced, so there could be air bubbles, how do i get them out?

There is a bleeder screw on your thermostat housing. It works exactly like a brake bleeder screw.

The way you described it, there is no doubt in my mind that its the IACV ...... regardless if u cleaned it... the fast idle valve is similar to a thermostat in its function, when it warms up with the coolant it allows your idle to drop... but the idle air control valve would try to control the idle, but if it isnt working right, the ecu tries to correct it and that in itself causes the surging... completely replace the iacv and your problem should be gone...

Total, they go for about 45 bucks. The IACV has a solenoid on it, so cleaning it may not do anything. Cut gaskets in the intake tract do that too, but affect total performance (car feels down on power).

To isolate a gasket as the culprit, drive the car within the range of the loping idle for a minute (any gear 3rd gear is the safest). If it tries to drop back down, then a leaky gasket is the cause.

To blame coolant bubbles...it wouldn't even be bubbles, just large gaps.

Got it solved yet? If not, try the air boost/starting valve. My car would act like it was gonna stall, rev to 2k, act like it'd stall, rev to 2k, etc., but it stopped after I swapped off the IACV, FITV, and air boost from my old motor.
