Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    camgear question

ok, first off i know that all motors will be different as to how much degree of advance/retard is best for them in terms of most horsepower. my question is to those with an H22 in there cb; I have skunk2 stage 2 cams, do you have aftermarket cams? what degree are your camgears set to? what are the characteristics with them being set at that point, does it acclelerate quickly but lack top speed, or really torque-y in low rpms and sluggish in high rpms? im tryin to find a setup that works for me but am pretty much clueless on whether to advance the exhaust cam and retard the intake cam or vise versa ive been playin a little but am afraid to fck up and bend a valve(s). any body with any suggestions?

**edit** im lookin for a setup that would give the most acceleration, providing max power in high rpms,6k-8k+, which is where those cams make the power

I am going to put cam gears on this summer and dyno. I don't think you should be messing with the adjustment with out dyno. If you mess with the adjustment too much you could blow your head due to valve clearences.

BTW How much you pushing to the wheels with those mods?

your best bet is to get on the dyno and at least guess where you can figure out of you are making or losing power.

As a general rule of thumb, advancing the cam will boost bottom end and retarding it will boost top end.

With H22s, it seems that most people end up advancing the intake cam slightly and retarding the exhaust cam slightly.

You really need a dyno though.

j/w. most people recommend the p28.

as long as the hardware is added to support vtec the p06 is the same computer functionally as the p28.
