Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    To all RS*R owners

This is something that has bothered me since I put my exmag system on. The massive cabin noise that i hear when driving in general. It seems as if I have a direct link from my tail pipe to the backseat. And i figured this because when I drive with my window down its the same amount of noise, and exhaust tone that I hear when the car is completely closed up.
Dont get me wrong, its quiet and nice sounding, I just odnt want to hear it all the time like its pointed straight at me.

I just wanna know if anyone else has experienced this, and what is the cause. I have a megan high-flow "cat" and 4-2-1 header but i'm not really putting those into the picture as being the culprit.

Also, my rsr came with a small dent in the resonater, but shouldnt be the problem either.

Help me out here if you can.

RS*R is supposed to be the quietest exhaust. Its probably your cat, or you have an exhaust leak where its not bolted together all teh way.

Its not a sound issue, its a noise issue. If that makes sense.

Its as if the tailpipe as well as sending the noise to the back of the car, is putting it into the backseat as well.

The flanges being tight isnt the case because when you get under the car when its running you cant hear, or see any escape.

Wow, I can't even really hear mine and I have a full exhaust including a high flow cat. I would say either your exhaust is in contact with part of the car, which would make it resonate and vibrate back into the cabin, you have an exhaust leak, or a VERY crappy exhaust component.

When I had an intake on the car, I could NEVER hear my exhaust because the intake was ALWAYS louder.

Did you buy it new, and do you have any sound clips?

Dude, if it's that loud, there's gotta be a leak some where closer to the cat. This happened to me and when i got it fixed, the noise returned to the rear of the car.

I put everything on at once, so everthing was new. No, I bought it from a dealer site, dont remember which one but it was from a thread here. And I dont have a camcorder so I cant take audio.

I'm gonna check all the bolts here soon, hopefully its just something loose.

I have magnaflow cat, then it got much louder when i added carsound cat and my megan header. I think its just the combo that makes it loud, plus im missing a gasket on my cat. make sure your gaskets havent disintegrated from the heat.

I've got all of the above too, and mine didn't get appreciably louder. Especially not to the point that it was irritating.

Check to see if its rubbing against the rear sway bar..... my magnaflow was doing that, some zipties on the rubber hanger and problem solved

I chekced everything and its all fine, so maybe when i drive it tomorrow it will be more quiet. The gaskets are all fine, so I dunno.

Oh well, only 7 more days of driving it anyway.

Nope, not rubbing on the progress, but that would be a different noise.

I have a high flow cat that is the most notorious for being loud on this site, other than a test pipe.

Mine isn't louder than it was with the stock cat.
