    AEM 21-407 HP Gains?

Anyone have the AEM 21-407 cold air intake? I currently have a K&N drop in on my 92 EX. Is there any noticable HP increase between the K&N drop in vs the AEM 21-407 w/bypass? Or is it just going to look good? Thanks for your response.

I am not sure if anyone has ever dyno'ed a car after just putting on the CAI, but it was my first mod, and it definately noticed extra power, mostly top end. It also makes the car a bit louder(a deep sound) at WOT. I think its a pretty good investment.

You wont notice a difference between the two probably b/c your gain is so small anyways

Word. Your K&N drop in filter is pretty much the best aftermarket filter you can get. And with cold air intakes, you're gaining mainly mid range to upper range torque and losing some bottom end.

My dad threw away my stock airbox, but what I recently thought about doing is just routing my genering short ram tube w k&n filter housed in a stock air box which has a custom made hole in the side w/ a short tube fed down into that hole next to the battery where the CAI usually goes, in order to draw cold air into the stock air box and keep hot engine air out.

I was hoping to increase HP & torque by using this in conjunction with the magnaflow catback. To increase HP by approx 10 and torque also. Thus creating a 150 HP F22 A6? I would also expect increased efficiency giving me increased gas mileage. I did notice a diff with the K&N. Just hoping for more without changing the motor.

BTW, anyone know what my color is? door jamb "YR-94M-3"

WHat ever CAI you go with make sure you have that bypass valve. I'm a victim of it. It really sucks to waterlock your motor.

What kind of lake did you drive though to hydrolock your motor?

About a year and a half ago we had a very bad rain storm and well part of the road was covered with water. It was like 3 in the morning just left a club and I had just put my new motor in the car. I could barely see out my windshield and was only going like 30 mph. Well before I knew it, what I thought was just about a inch of water, (you know how newly paved roads really shine when it rains) became actually about a foot of water. Right when I realized what was going on I put my car in neutral and my car shut off. I sat for like4 days (luckily I didn't try to crank it) with the plugs out to try and dry it up. But it still messed my motor up and I still haven't replaced it yet. My baby is just sitting in the driveway. Instead of replacing the motor I bought a 2000 Grand Cherokee. I just bought a house and after that is a finalized I'll buy my motor.

If I put the aem or K&N on your car and didnt tell you what put on you would not be abel to tell the diff. without just looking at it.

As far as HP, probably not. I will notice increase engine noise with the CAI. Without going into a long detail reason for my madness If it is worth it (CAI), I will simply put my K&N into my 91 LX. If it is not worth it, I will purchase another K&N for my 91 LX. I have noticed a difference with the K&N. I decided to keep my 92 EX and put money into it as parts wear out/worn. And in the process, increase HP and efficency
