From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

How to Tune and Modify Engine Management Systems - by Jeff Hartman (book)

I just got this book. Haven't read the whole thing yet, but so far it seems to be VERY good. If you're looking to get into ECU tuning, this book is a good place to start. It will explain in a fair amount of detail the workings of computerized engine management systems, as well as the air/fuel system as a whole. Not only does it describe the workings of the ECU, but how it applies to the working of the engine. I'll post more about it as I read more, but so far I am thoroughly impressed. Well worth the $20-$30! (I spent $30... had a Borders gift card Amazon has it for $20)

I wasn't as impressed with the Corky Bell book. It's good, but I knew most of the stuff he was saying already... well, the stuff that wasn't over my head (and still is... much of that turbo math means nothing to me until I actually have a use for it).

Honda and Acura Engine Performance by Mike Kojima is excellent. A few typos, and a bit of outdated info, but still a good read for beginners. I kinda feel like the Hartman book is a good followup to that (as is the Bell book, honestly...)

That book rocks! It currently travels all over the house with me. That is one of the ones that I suggested Midnight should list as a resource in the FI forum. I recommend it to anybody. Very easy to understand, because it starts with the very basics in plain english and then advances from there.

some other good books are High Performance Honda Builder's Handbook (S-a Design) by Pettitt, Joe. volumes 1 and 2. You can get them at amazon.com, used or new. I got both new for arounnd 30 bux shipped.

I just bought those recently and I havent really gotten around to reading them much, but sisqo(hondafan) tells me they are very good.

but i think I'm gona buy this book as well, sounds very interesting.

and i agree with you deev, about the corky bell book, it wasnt all that great. When i started reading it, a lot of stuff I already knew, and I learned it all from this site, well, a lot of it.

The Mike Kojima book gives a LOT of very good turbo info in just a few chapters. It's enough to get someone on a site like this asking the right questions. The Corky Bell book just went into further detail... I just HATED the fact that EVERYTHING related to the Aerocharger, and how wonderful it'll be... and it's been shown to be unreliable and far too expensive to purchase and maintain for most people. I wish he stuck to current technology (even just current for the time, like Kojima) and left that crap for a final "what is to come" chapter.

I haven't read the Petit books yet. I hear they're very similar in content to the Kojima book... perhaps a bit more detailed.

The Auto Math Handbook is a very good resource too. It gives a lot of the formulas for chamber volume etc.

Sport Compact Car published one a LONNNG time ago, that had a sick ass CB7 turbocharged by AEBS. It was putting out well over 300HP about 5 years ago if I remember correctly. I will have to see if I can find pics of those or any other good ones. The old (like pre-2002-2003) Sport Compact Car magazines always had a lot of pretty scientifically gathered information too. Then it became an STI/EVO/RALLY/DRIFTING rag that pretty much left everyone else out.

I forgot that I have the Auto Math book! I got it a few years ago, and I barely read it. I suppose it'll be better once I actually NEED the information.

The Mike Kojima book is an SCC book. He's a contributing editor. There's also another book in the same series that's called Honda and Acura Performance or something... That may be the book you're speaking of, Scott. It has info about a turbo CB7 (not too impressive by today's standards). My soon-to-be brother-in-law (93twodoorLX) has that... I gave it to him for his birthday a few years back.
