Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    1) Honda catalytic converters don't rob much hp at all... if it's as much as .5hp, I'd be amazed. Honda has designed their converters to be very free flowing. Because of this, any stock replacement converter (quality, anyway) will be the same. Taking off your cat will do nothing but pollute the air and make you look like an idiot. h22sparkle, kudos for putting yours back on (though hi-flow when referring to Honda cats is pretty redundant. You can't get much more out of it.) Of course, running a stock Accord cat with an H22 and a 2.5" exhaust system would rob some power, simply because of the smaller diameter piping that it was designed for.

    .
agreed! from what i have heard/read Deev is correct, honda cats flow just fine.

why not use a prelude VTEC (oem replacement) cat?? id assume the length of the cat should be the same as the accord ones since the prelude exhaust manifolds and downpipe bolts up to the stock accord cat. id believe the only difference between the accord cat and prelude cat (93-95VTEC) is the actual diameter of the piping?.

those were my thoughts since the sizing of the o-ring gaskets for the prelude/accord cats are quite different in size.

anyone know for sure if you can bolt up a prelude VTEC replacement cat??

The Prelude cat would probably be an easier way to go about it, actually. I had to have a new flange welded on to use the stock cat (I'm sure it was the header they modified...) A Prelude cat would probably bolt right up, and an aftermarket exhaust is pretty much necessary with the H22 swap anyway... Good thinking!

Also, SMSP sells a very well designed aftermarket cat for a very fair price (compared to their crazy expensive headers, their cat is at a giveaway price!) www.smsproducts.com if I remember correctly. When I get a good header (RMF, SMSP, or something of equal quality... maybe Bisimoto if Bisi shows some more H love!) I plan on getting the SMSP cat for street use. I MAY get a straight pipe for the track at that point, since a high-end header and exhaust system WILL benefit somewhat from the deletion of the cat. For a street car with anything short of a $1000 header, no cat doesn't do anything worthwhile... nothing worth polluting the air even more for!
