Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    Catback/muffler options?

I'm looking for something with a 2.5-3" single tip, preferably rolled with a black body and chrome tip. All those lead to the Pacesetter exhausts. Are those any good?

Pacesetter's pretty good. I've used their products on other cars, never a fouth gen so I don't know how it sounds but they do make nice stuff.

I thought about the Ractives...maybe the dual tip. The 4" is pushing it though.

I think the Pacesetters would have a better sound though, as it's all an integrated system, rather than just a bolted on muffler

Well Reactive/Toucan does make a complete cat-back aswell as selling the mid section and various axle backs also for 4th gens.

About a year ago i installed a pacesetter cat-back on my freinds 90 cb7, and it really didn't sound a whole lot different. It was a touch louder and thats about it. I would strongly reccomend not buying the pacesetter, unless money is a big issue. The pace setter is put together pretty poorly. My freinds is already starting to rust, and a lot of the black paint that was originally on the exhaust has peeled off. I really don't have any suggestions for what you are looking for.

i know your going for that look..but pacesetter in my opinion is garbage. although you may save some money now; but in the long run, your gonna end up spending more money for a better exhaust system.

It doesn't sound a lot louder on the inside but from what my friends told me it was ricey as hell. POS is poorly constructed as well. That's why its rusting away in the backyard after only having it on my car a little more then a year. Got a nice Tanabe system in its place.

Hmmm...oh well. The horse in their logo tricked me, somehow I associated them with a Ferrariish sound...oh well...

don't choose an exhaust based on how big the tip is or how it looks. go with something that will give you good sound and performance (those are the main 2 factors imo).

But does a muffler really add "performance." For all i can tell it just adds sound and would barely, if ever, show any gains on a dyno from simply adding a muffler to a setup. Its actually really hard to get a ricey sound out of our cars and if u are able to get one then u actually had to TRY to do and meant to get an overpriced maxwell coffee can for a muffler

Yeah, mufflers never really make mega power on their own. Heck, catbacks barely make power on their own. If I wanted more power I'd have to really change everything right from the block. I just want a semi-deep sound and a medium sized chrome tip for ~150 tops.

Personally, I don't see how anyone could put down 400+ for an RS-R or Greddy catback over a regrind or a PnP. But if it's just for looks then more power to them...just not my style though...my car was only $2200...

Amen brother lol...i feel ya on that one. Theres ppl that go as far as paying $600 for the best cat-backs and ish and lose hp. Thats the funniest thing in the world to me LMAO. So much could be done with that wasted money. Even $150 for a muffler is beyond my price range, i won't even go over $100

I wouldn't even waste any money on a muffler, you gain nothing performance wise, and besides that most sound like crap. The only way i would go is with a full cat-back, which if you go with the right one, you will see a gain in hp. also i only paid $1300 for my car, but i forked out 400+ for the thermal cat-back..lol..
