I figured it would help with gas mileage, but what kind of performance differences did you notice. Did you actually dyno it or anything? I've never heard of anyone claiming any real gain from them.

Please DO NOT Post In The General Section
From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.
The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.
For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.
Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.
Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

oh yea im using API SL cheveron oil with no 'energy conserving' stamp. oil makes a difference too. look on the back of the oil u are using and it should have a small circle that says API Sx <-- which could be SJ, SL, SM, blah blah blah and below that should say if it is energy conserving or energy conserving II... some oils dont have any of that tho. energy conserving give u like 1.4% better MPG and energy conserving II gives u like 2.5% MPG i think by just using that oil. oil makes a difference!Last edited by SenseiAccord; 09-20-2005, 02:17 AM.

hey dude..
what weight do u use? and seriously are u using chevron oil? ive been using castrol gtx, 10w-30 let me in cuz chevron got sale :P ..
if chevron is truly gonna save, then im gonna give it a try.. cheap too !!
i have yet to fix the probs on the accord pass drive axle, new rotors/ pads, and STILL no a/c but u get use to it.
take cares..hahahahah

I've never actually dyno tested a car before and after an MSD install. I will though, next time I set one up.
My ass dyno tells me that on both cars of mine that I ever installed one on, the performance increase is roughly equal to the parasitic drag of the A/C compressor. I know this since after installing it, I started forgetting that the A/C was on... I didn't feel the slowness the car had when the compressor was engaged, before the MSD setup was installed.
EDIT: On one car (AE92 4dr) my pre-MSD gas mileage was 23 MPG consistently. Afterwards, it jumped to 29-30 MPG. This being verified by calculating it every time I got gas. I never calculated it on the other one.Last edited by Dirty Harry; 09-20-2005, 12:31 PM.

anyway i use chevron oil API rating SL and no 'energy conserving' stamp. i use 10w-40. lil bit thicker than factory recommendations but since i have like 100k plus miles on my car i figured i would be good on my bearings.
oil 101. higher the number thicker the oil. showroom cars use lighter weights cuz the bearings are new with little to no wear on them. as the car gets older the bearings wear out and get a gap. the thicker oil fills in that gap. anyway lemme kno if u have questions.

oh yea my a/c is gone too. i got vent visors tho incase i need air when it rains LOL. i dont think im gonna bother fixing it... unless my school will give me free freon.
anyway dont use chevron oil to save gas. it doesnt have the 'energy conserving' stamp. i just use it cuz i have left overs from when costco sold em cheap. seriously... i think walmart has the best deal on oil LOL!
