From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Doing 80 and exhaust decides to become straight piped

Coming back to Chicago because school let out. Doing 80 down the interstate when all the sudden I hear a loud noise and vibrations. I instantly think a flat tire. Remembering everything I learned when getting a blowout at highspeeds...I let off the gas and slowly move to the side of the road. As I open the door of my honda...it sounds like a freak big rig idleing.

Get under the car and see that the exhaust completly dropped in front of the cat. Had to ride another hour with the exhaust like that and it got really annoying.

Brought it to a guy this morning by my shop and he said I need a catback. I am thinking to myself...the everything from the cat going back is fine. Then he says, actually your going to need a whole new exhaust from the header back. Says the flex pipe is like 300 and the catback is like 300. I am like what the fuck!

So i left there and another guy that is good friends with my boss is looking at it tommorow. If it is a catback I need...I am looking at the magnaflow catback

I like my exhaust quiet on that car and from what everyone says, magnaflow seems to be the quietest but have a nice tone to it.

    Any truth to that?

magnaflows are not the quietest catback exhausts systems for our cb7s; they tend to have a raspy sound to it. better off with a Greddy SP or an Apex-i WS1(original version) or WS2.

Thanks for the advice on the ws1 or ws2. I am going to look into that. I am big on the quiet factor for this car.

Sho...I dont even know if I need a flexpipe. The guy just pulled that shit out of his ass. He is like its probably shit too. I am like well its not broken yet so we'll fix it when I come to that bridge. I wasnt happy with the guy. Grumpy old man.

edit: I found a price on the ws2 for 440...does that seem kind of pricey or is that the norm?

                  DC headers eliminate the flexpipe?

it seems average; but i think some tuners here got it for a little less.

when you buy a DC header, or most aftermarket one...the bottom half of the header, right before the cat, has a flex pipe welded on to it already.

damn some one tryin to screw u on the flexpipe!

why not just think about a custom exhaust and get a apexi muff or greddy, 100 for custom catback pipping, and surely it cant be much money to fix where the down pipe came detached from the cat. If it is just buy the pipe from a yard.

Well it got fixed today. I found out my buddys uncle owns a shop down the street from my shop. I took it to him and he took care of it for me. I think he just welded in a new pipe, I havent had a chance to get under the car and look. Cost me 60 bucks
We'll see how long that lasts, but then maybe when it goes out again, I'll have some cash to spend and get an exhaust

Thanks for all the advice and tips. I appreciate it. Maybe by the end of summer I will pick up an exhaust. Maybe just a muffler since I think one of the baffels in the muffler is lose and it rattles.
