Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    best mod

Just wanted to know what each member feels his best performance modification was, how much it cost, and how hard it was to install 1-10 scale... since i am a poor college kid my best mod has been the DIY short shifter that cost like $10 total and was about a 2 on the 1-10 scale since i didnt' have anything to cut metal with...

def my turbo...cash wise i think to build my whole engine it is gonna be like 2k, which is a lot bc i am also a poor college kid...on the diff scale it would be about a 10 bc i made pretty much everything in my set up but the turbo, intercooler, and internals...second would also be a short shifter which cost about the same as urs and about the same on the scale.

Build a whole engine for 2k? Maybe for a lawn mower or something. Even if you did all the work yourself you couldn't build your whole engine for 2k. Rods, pistons, sleeves, valves, valve springs/retainers, gaskets, etc., etc. The last estimate I got for just the BOTTOM end being built was like $3400, and the top end would most likely run another 1k.

As for the thread, nitrous was definitely the best for the money. I haven't used it in like 7-8 months cuz I've been too busy to fix the leak in my line, but when I did it was pretty fast. I would only rate it as like a 6 to install. It took a little bit of drilling and connecting a few wires, but overall it was fairly easy. Best of all it only cost about $500 with all the accessories. I'm a poor college kid too ... so just work your ass off in the summer like I do and save up.

Springs. It's the best bang for the buck, plus you get looks and handling.

damn bud i dont know where the fuck you are getting your estimates from or what, but i am building my whole engine for under 2 k. I just got the pistons for 465, rods are gonna be 365, whole engine gaskets 100 shipped, clutch that will hold 400hp/tq 280, dont want a new cam or springs bc i am only taking it to 7 and with a turbo i am goingt o be making power al the way up to it. I do do all the work myself, or with my brother, so i can build it for under 2. I also know some people who know some people so i can get some parts and shit for realatively cheap. I almost bought some darton sleeves the other day for 200 shipped brand new, but i am going to use a sleeve stabalizer instead. So yes, i can build an entire engine for 2k.

If you aren't getting sleeves or building the top end that is not building the WHOLE engine. The price I was referring to was with new bearings, sleeves, heat tanking, balance and blue printing, etc ... which is a full engine build. I know you can get rods and pistons for cheap, and they are the most necessary parts being the weakest links and all. I would really like to see where you were going to get sleeves for $200 shipped new because I've never seen them for less than half that price. I will probably just end up replacing the rods and pistons for now too since it's all I will be able to afford, but I don't want to do it myself and risk screwing it up.
