Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

It is the one where your supposed to put the filter in. I capped the other one in the pic like it said but didnt know if i should hook up the one with the filter in it to the intake tube cause this new one has a spot for a vaccum hose as well as the line from the engine head.

Yeah, like typeg said, thats the intake air control box and valve.... its only for oem systems, basically like a silencer or resonator... quiets it down a bit, and completely useless.., cap the line on the throttle body and ditch all that equipment down there...

I did cap that one and removed the box and all other stuff. What about the one that is supposed to have the filter in. And this intake tube i got has a hole for a vaccum line as well as the line from the engine? What vaccum line hooks up to it?

well i have a cold intake (short) and i had that large nipple unplug and had that lil box removed and that long line plug and my idle was high and the car was taking off without me puting my foot on the brakes so i put that box back in plug the long line to it and the car stop idling high and taking off. I'm still a lil confuse about that extra nipple being open. But after a month i still got that lil box but now when i start the car it goes up to 3rpm's and start idling and unidling (Accelerating and deaccelerating) until it warms up.......So should i remove that box plug that line up or leave it open? ...i have a vaccum leak somewhere can that box and extra nipple be the problem?

yeah i'm really wondering about this too. i just bought an AEM short ram and i want to install it right now. the guy i bought it off of didn't include the cap, so can i just leave that vacuum tube unplugged for the time being?

Ok, from having JUST installed my cold air intake, here is what ive gathered. The looong like 2-3foot line coming from the side box is just a controller to open/close a cap for the air box that's UNDer the fender.(where a cold air intake filter is placed) There is this box that I had to remove under the fender where my filter went. The box is not for letter air in or anything, so it seems to be just a resonating container to kill sound when more air is being sucked into the engine. Even if you are just doing the short ram instal I'd recomend taking out this container out, since it'd let air come in both the side and bottom hole there right by the battery. Otherwise thoses holes are useless. The LONG 2-3 foot line that is attached on the intake manifold next to the other 3 lines is CAPPED because the valve is no longer used. I seems that when the throttle is opened more, the suction would automatically activate the valve. A little 2mm hole otherwise is of noooo use. Now the line that is BEHIND the Throttle body is separate somehow, and when the car is on it sucks air pretty hard. Attach it to the small nipple if you have one, or fill it with the foam. It's a necessary part, and anything swallowing air I'd want filtered. The big nipple which attaches on the FAR LEFT of the engine's head (there are TWO connections coming from the head, one to the intake pipe and the other directly to the intake mani) Seems to just be an intake to cool the oil or something. Often this instead of the hose people give the head it's own mini filter, which you can pick up at any auto shop for 7-$10. The other connection on the engine cap (in the MIDDLE) that goes to the middle of the intake mani is some sort of a valve, and (as I found out in error) you do NOT want to mess with... I've got a sorta temp fix as I was trying to replace the tubing and messed up the whole little valve on the head and that gave the engine the accellerate/decellerate problem mentioned above where it randomly revs up and down. GOing to junk yard tomorrow as any other pipe/tubing isn't really stiff enough cause that hole sucks pretty hard.

Very long but hope this helps someone
