.0014 headgasket for na f22 build?

Debating on a .0014 steel/copper coated headgasket to boost compression to 9.3:1. I have a tuner so adjusting timing/fuel afterwards would not be an issue. My current headgasket is leaking coolant into the cylinders, replacement is needed. My current f22a6 setup consists of I/H/E, ported/gutted h23 IM, Delta 272 Re-grind, 8lb flywheel, chipped/tuned po6 ecu, h22 tranny, 7300rpm redline, etc etc... The motor was rebuilt by a reputable company a couple years ago, has 35,000 miles on it now, apparently the headgasket isn't liking me... Anywho, my question is, is it worth boosting my compression with a single layer gasket as opposed to a stock Honda headgasket. I need reliability, as this is a dd. I'm neck and neck with my brothers 5spd 2000 prelude until about 100mph (H seems to have a little more top end pull) then he slowly walks on me. I'm sticking with building an f series, as around here everyone has h's. I'm happy with it, just trying to get every ounce of usuable power out of it. Thanks in advance.

if youre stuck with the f22, get the right pistons.

theres a nice set of used forged ones in the classified. that motor made 188 NA.

remember you can play with cam timing and valve lash for static compression ratio

Thanks, was focussing on head adjustments rather than ripping into my low mileage bottom end. Ex- head milling, porting, etc. Eventually I will look into that, but not yet. Thanks wed3k, I may stick with oem...

weld the quench areas in the head and mill.

You said its tuned what it make?Whats your exact setup your running so far?Read that gutting the plenum wasn't such a good idea on a mild setup.....could try double stacking it.

Ride-along. Haven't dyno'd it yet... I figured if I can beat a prelude to 4th gear I'm doing decent (taking a stock accord into consideration). I literally pulled away from him in 2nd gear, but as I stated, he catches up... I'm not in it to beat b series hatches and crx's, just to see how far I've come. I stated my setup at the top, never seen that before wed, good idea.

It's quite torque'y 2000-3500 rpm's, and pulls good from 5500-shift. Everything in between is not so amazing. I have been wanting to add double stack though.

You stated I/H/E that could be many things could be good or bad.As i stated before have you looked into double stacking the IM?or a bisi intake heat shield gasket.Right there is less than $100 an worth a few ponies be an easy job since you have to take the topend of anyway.

272 i last had made power around 2500-3k+ but i had to mess with the timing a few times to get it like i wanted it.

Haha i read that question is whats the diameter on the intake an exhaust man also collector size on the header.

I figured since I have no restriction from my intake filter to my head, and minimal restriction after (ws2 exhaust, no bisi header yet) I should focus on head flow and compression.

The heads flow quite nicely best bet is to open up the exhaust side of the head.Thats what i plan on doing on my build. As for compression like Wed3k said pistons would help you out alot. With that thin of a gasket i myself wouldn't trust it for everyday driving.

Funny, my recent tune (2 weeks ago) he advanced the timing by 2*, that's all I know. He doesn't go into detail about it, I could check tomorrow. He tunes it, has for a couple years, and I leave it alone, and go back when I add/change something. I've had this cam in my car for about 2 years, very familiar with the power band, noticeably increases power at 5500 and has a decent amount of torque around 25-35/4 rpm.
