Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.


The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.


For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.


Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

    H22 Sleeves???

    Just wondering how much would it cost to resleeve a block? The reason I ask this is that I found a h22 with eagle forged rods and forged JE pistons and skunk 2 cam gears for $300 my friends neighbor is selling it, one of the rods are broken that's why so cheap. The problem is he says he didn't sleeve the block so Im guessing this block needs to be resleeved but for $300 I can't pass this up the head alone is worth @least $250......So what do you guys think???

    If he ran those pistons on the FRM sleeves, then yeah... he probably tore it apart!

    Resleeving a block generally costs about $1000-$1200, parts included. Some places will do it cheaper, some will charge more. You really have to call around to know for certain. Just be sure to go to a place that knows what they're doing. Paying an extra $200 to have it done right is well worth it.

    Honestly, I wouldn't bother with that block. Who knows what damage has been done. The internals are probably damaged (the broken rod obviously is.) The crank may be damaged...

      Blueprint mfg does H/F sleeves for 975 i belive. i have them in my motor, they are awesome.

        Even for only $300? The parts alone are worth more. Do you really think the actual pistons were damaged?

          I'd pass as well. Worth $300 IF it wasnt broken. If the guy was dumb enough to run forged pistons in the stock FRM sleeves... theres no way else you know what else he was also dumb enough to do on that block.

            The parts were worth more if they weren't broken...
            He snapped a rod, and ran pistons designed for iron sleeves in an engine with FRM sleeves. I'm sure the FRM material scored up the sides of those pistons, just as the pistons destroyed the FRM sleeves. The broken rod is obviously trash, but I'm sure the other 3 were put under a good deal of stress when the one broke. The crank is most likely damaged where that broken rod connected to it. I also wonder if the piston in the cylinder with the broken rod didn't take advantage of its newfound freedom and socialize with a couple valves... In other words, the head might be damaged as well!

            For $300, I'd say the only thing it's worth is to buy as a learning tool. Tear it down, learn how it works, and put your money into an engine that was exposed to less torture.

                Take it to a trusted professional and have it inspected. Someone who knows what to look for can tell you the necessary info. If there is anything worth saving, try to renegotiate a price.
