Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.


The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.


For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.


Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

    ''short'' short ram intake mod

    Hi guys, i'm pretty sure i saw this today, but i've been searching for about 30 mins and i can't find it.. maybie some of you will know what i mean...

    Anyway i'm talking about a 3 inch tubing (about 4 inch long) on the intake manifold and a filter right on it. I'm wondering if it is better than a normal short ram? The reason i'm asking is that it looks nice under the hood, its just a strait pipe without bent in it so it looks ''cleaner''.

    I'll be buying a sri and i dont want to cut it if its not a good idea... I was thinking it would give some small gain since the air near the firewall should be colder than the air near the battery.

    Tell me what you think about this please.

    edit** this will be for a h22 intake. But i dont think the h22 i/m has different dimensions of the f22 one...

    i know the piping your referring to . IDK , about gains , but seems to work . if you get one keep your old one around if you don't like the short one . heat is not a big issue on the filter performance. once you are moving the heat gets flushed out . just always make sure to have a good brand filter such as , k/n .

        They call it a pop charger in the euro circles.

        Check out the snow on my hood, can you guess where my intake filter sits? I'll give you a hint, it's still covered with snow and the area by the throttle body isn't.

          yea, its just common sense that the coldest air is going to be in front of the car, where it comes into the bay, with that pop charger you are going to suck in the hot air from the engine

                Yea i'll probably get k/n or aem filter, right now i have a ractive on my f22, but i'll get better quality for the H.

                    Hey man just a tip- If you plan on ordering an Ebay intake, you should also invest in a quality element. It's a great way to build an intake on a budget, since piping is 99% of the time just piping, but with an ebay intake, the intake element is garbage and could let harmful particles into your combustion chambers.

                    That pipe pictured above with a quality K&N or AEM filter element would make for a GREAT intake and probably under $70!

                      Yeah thats my plan! And I also thought about going to a local metal shop and buy a 3inch aluminium pipe.

                        it said toyota celica soo you might want to search for that you could always use it and then use the small breather filters for the vaccume lines and the pcv valves and stuff or just put a cone filter straight on the intake manifold

                          When the car is moving, the temperature of the air in the engine bay won't be extremely hot. The temperature really only rises when the car is sitting still. If you want to do the pop charger design, it won't be bad. You'll probably get a slightly faster throttle response.

                              True, but the ridged interior creates turbulence which slows air flow. A smooth ABS pipe would work better.
