    Possible H22 RWD trannys?

Hi guys, as u all know i'm constantly on the lookout for something new. Also as u all know i'm rebuilding and boosting a H22 giving me 350+ hp to play with.

Do u guys know of a gearbox thats usable (of course not a direct mate) with the H22? This to make the h22 work on a RWD application (CB7??)

I know a Porsche 911 5-spd tranny is "reversable" but that would make the car rear engined also.

A 944 tranny would bolt up between the rear wheels, but then again the connecting shaft would spin engine Rpm's, thus needing it to be precicely balanced.

Mounting the engine in a longditudional way (90 deg turn) isnt seen as a problem; i like to see it as a challenge...

    Any help would be great,

    Stefan

The problem with an rear engine:

    - lots of cutting into the shell
    - super light front creating loads of understeer (watch the Lovefab H22 RWD delsol)
    - Wiring needs to be transfered to back

Bolting the engine to the gearbox isnt a problem... its the counterclockwise rotation of the h22 thats a problem (engine turning the wrong way)

Thought bout that.. but i'd have to change final drive since the rear dif also has some kind of final drive in it (ie shaft RPM isn't equal to the wheel RPM)

What about the tranny off of one of the AWD JDM Accords?

Yes my thoughts exactly. Accord Torneo's came with AWD DOHC F20b's and also a single overhead cam 2.0l v-tec lower model as well....Not a F20A. I can't recall the name of that engine but I'll have to dig up my honda brochures I collected when i visited Japan. My thoughts would be getting this tranny and other misc parts and doing the same thing those guys did in the Honda Tuning Magazine with their AWD integra (which they have in japan as well) They pulled something out and it made their integra with the AWD application run only RWD.

For those of you that are wondering... The special AWD Accords and integras in japan were not sport performance cars but their AWD versions were built for safety performance in mind. Don't expect that dropping a B18C or a Euro-R H22A into one of these cars will let your honda put on a show like a Evo or STI...... If this was the case, we would see so many Spoon or Mugen Sport AWD Accords.

Probably would've been easier for them instead of chopping a integra up with crv parts.
I need a custom turbo manifold built....

You may want to check out the Acura Integra drifters. They make the integras rear wheel drive. The engines to have been located in the normal position.

by using a AWD tranny and only using the rear output shaft, wouldent that put to much strain on the tranny itself?

I think it depends on how the differential is designed. Seems to me as long as you ensure all the power is transfered out the back it *should* be fine. But, what do I know, you're the evil doctor
