Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    Genki Tuning?

I know this will be a lot of reading but I feel that they are good questions and hoping I can get some advice. Have any of you guys and gals ever here of this company (Genki Tuning)? I need a new exhaust and was thinking about getting the cat back system they offer for our cars. However the cat back system is relatively cheap ($114.00 for the cat back) which brings me to wonder about the quality of the metal and how thick the flanges are and how long it will last. The cat-back im leaning towards getting is the TAS Auto one. I am also thinking about getting a Megan Racing 4-2-1 header (If any one of you has this header would you mind gving me your view anout it. Have any of you had to tune in anyway shape or form aftter getting an exhaust. Here is the link for the cat-back and the header i'm thinking about.

That exhaust is nothing more than a generic piece of junk like the ones you'll find for a similar price on ebay.

Look at it this way... if a company has 1) a Japanese sounding name and is based in the US, 2) "tuning", "racing", etc... in their name, when their primary products are cheap bolt-ons and cosmetic parts, and 3) bargain basement prices... they are PROBABLY not quality!

Their "contact us" link also goes to a page that has no contact info whatsoever. I had to Google their phone number just to find out that they were in CA... and oddly enough, that number is registered to a company caled Autotec Imports.

That exhaust will be loud. It will be raspy. It may have fitment issues. It will not sound like a quality exhaust. The TASauto exhaust isn't much better, their representative on this site confirmed that. However, I would buy from TAS before I bought from anyone else, because they cater to the CB7 community directly. Not many companies pay attention to us the way they do.
Honestly, you'd be much better off buying a quality exhaust from Apexi, RS*R, or GReddy. Those will fit well, sound great, and last for a long time.

As for the Megan Racing header... you're not going to gain much power, if any at all. No cheap header makes power for the F22A. The only one worth buying is the Bisimoto header. Pricey, but worth the money. Anything else is just for looks, or a cheap replacement when your OEM flex pipe quits on you. If you don't need a new manifold or flex pipe, and you don't particularly care about looks... don't bother with an aftermarket header.

Thanks for the reply deeve. I figured it was junk anyway and would probably rust out by next year. As the header I know it won't produce any power if any like you had mentioned. Im getting the header primarily to fix the flex pipe and get hopefully a little better sound. Once i start rebuilding the motor thats when i'm going to spend the extra dough to get the Bisimoto NA header and a nice exhaust.
'Till then something that sounds decent would be nice. I am however on a tight budget.

genki was a software programming company who was bought out by ubisoft who made the Tokyo Xtreme Racer series of video games (probably the best street racing sim ever). Thats where they stolen the name from

They rise their wooden pints and they yoik and sing
And they fight and dance 'till the morning

Dont forget my MRT for my 1992 Honda Accord LX

Correctemundo sir! To be honest, making or "enginering" a part like a header or an intake is not that hard. We used to get bored when I was still an engineering student and do designs in Autocad, same thing with our fabrication/casting classes!

The thing that most people do not realize is that a cheap price is often a front for lack or performance or performance robbing characteristics! With this in mind, the reason for companies such as us; Bisimoto Engineering; are not as low priced is because we have research and development behind the products.

if it was $120 thats not too bad for a cat back but its closer to $190. any way if its a 2.5 exhaust that wont rust its worth it. to me any way im not knowcking it till i try it.

Even stainless steel corrodes in time... and poorly made welds can crack, as well.

If spending $400 on a quality exhaust that 1) sounds good, 2) fits properly, and 3) lasts a long time... is too much, then what's the point of spending 1/3 to 1/2 of that for something that most likely does not do any of those three things?

I'd rather have a $400 exhaust on a stock-height car than a $200 exhaust that sounds like crap on my "slammed" car riding on $200 worth of cheap crap suspension.
A handful of good parts make a car worth owning. Slapping on every cheap part you can afford will just make the car less and less enjoyable, until you regard it as a shitbox, dump it in the junkyard, and buy something "nicer" (that HOPEFULLY you do not do the exact same thing to!)
