From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

    Bisi heat shield

Just wondering if any of you had a problems with vibration after installing a heat shield. what I mean by vibration is nuts getting loose.
I don't want to locktite the nuts cause it's kind of difficult to reach all the bolts at the bottom of the intake mani. I have big forearms so its a big pain to reach all of them for myself anyways.

I noticed that my h22 didn't have the same punch or response in higher rpms or normal driving conditions when driving around town. but after getting home I started to look out for what was wrong(at the time I didn't know what was going on). now that that's out of the way and running much better and idle is
where it should be, the response is back.

So if any of you can respond on this matter I would appreciate your input.

did you remember to torque them to Honda's specifications? I think its 16ft-lbs or somewhere close to that for those 12mm nuts.

I've had issues like that on B-series with plastic gaskets...I recommend longer studs and some Class-C locking nuts, if the problem persists.

what you need to do is re tighten the bolts after a little while of use. that gasket will compress and deform a little bit, and will not apply the same force on the IM causing the nuts to get loose. After you do this once or twice you probably wont have to do it anymore.

the rattling might be the support brace for the intake mani, did you make sure to tighten that down?

make sure you get that support brace bolted up right, my last one fell off because it wasnt tight then i cracked 2 intake manifolds from not having one.

^ouch, I always wondered if the runners would crack w/o the brace.

I started to seep coolant from mine, but I retorqued it once and it's been fine ever since. The motor sees alot of extra vibes from the 94a mounts. Bisi h/s on the F22A btw.

never had or heard of this issue. hmmm.

anyways, i think a lock washer would benefit.

Those bottom nuts are easier to access if you put the car on jacks...I'm just gonna replace mine with longer studs, a few of the studs came out on my project motor when I took the intake and exhaust manifolds off, so all new studs seems like the way to go.

I had a similiar issue on my H23 with the bisi gasket. The nuts came so loose that coolant was dumping into cylinder number 4 and also leaked externally quite a bit. Took me a while to find out it was just that...:/

i use these special copper coated locking nuts that are used on audi exhaust manifolds. they have a crazy oval designed hole that squeezes the crap out of the stud. I have never had one back off and they look really cool too!

those are called jet-nuts. you can get titanium ones from ballerbolts.com and they're like $0.84 each. i havent really found them anywhere else but i'm sure mcmaster carr has them.
