What kinda clutches/flywheels are good for DD?

I'm doing a 5 speed swap on my Accord and I'm not very experienced with manual transmissions, so what kinda clutch/flywheel might be the best to use for daily driving? I only have basic bolt-ons and a cam so it's not like I'll be seeing 200 whp or anything, but I would like a clutch and flywheel that will work. I was thinking a fidanza flywheel+Exedy OEM clutch, I'm just not sure if that clutch will hold up or not, or if I would want a heavier flywheel for that clutch, or to change both of them. I just want it to be daily driveable, and I'd like a bit more power but I don't want the chatter some six pucks give, or to have to replace the clutch every couple of months. Any suggestions?

i'd just stick with an OEM Honda clutch, they last forever. later.

Does the OEM clutch hold up to the car with some mods on it or will it hold up to a lightweight flywheel? I've heard the h22 uses the same clutch so I'd assume it should be strong enough, just not entirely sure

i had an oem honda clutch on my car when it was turbo and i was pushing 197hp 208tq(wasn't a very efficient setup)but it did hold up and was not slipping

clutch and pressure plate had about 22k miles on it. they are quite good clutches for a car that isn't meant to have a lot of power, but honda always overdid there parts in those years

FTW! Good combo, soo good im using that EXACT setup, Fidanza 8lb Flywheel and OEM Exedy clutch (you can see the flywheel in my sig on the motor). Great combo, Requires a little hier rev when starting from a stop (8lbs is a big drop from the stock 22lb accord flywheel, so it takes a bit more momentom to get the car moving). I highly reccomend this, Revs up alot quicker, its on my DD coupe which has I/H/E 272 cam, tuned P06, etc... etc.... You wont be disapointed! got mine on ebay, $284 shipped if i remember correctly, came as a package deal with the Thowout bearing, pressure plate, flywheel, clutch, Fidanza sticker and instructions. I'll see if i can find another. Side note, never had ANY clutch chatter, and a stage 2 clutch will only wear your flywheel faster, you dont need it.

          HERE YOU GO!!!

I've got the Exedy Stg 1 and Fidanza combo on my H22 after I did the 5spd swap and its been great! Going on a year now since I've been swapped from Auto to 5spd. No problems slipping or anything. Came w/ a KOYO TO bearing. Whats good about the Fidanza is it has replaceable friction plates, so when they wear out, just get new ones vs. resurfacing it.

Clutch effort is a little bit more than a stock clutch setup I'd imagine, but its not overly difficult or anything. And you do have to rev it to 1.5k or so for a smoother take off from a standstill but the rewards of having it rev up a lot more freely is worth it. The car feels a lot more lively when you really get on it.

I also did away w/ the stock clutch damper and ran a braided clutch line from the CMC directly to the slave cyl. Feels like it engages/disengages a lot quicker, idk if thats from the type of clutch or not though.

I paid 260 shipped for the Exedy Stg 1 and 154 shipped for the Fidanza 8lb flywheel

Gentlemen please, Sarthos says he is not very experienced with manual transmissions, he needs to stay with OEM parts until he is versed enough to put on performance parts, remember even you guys had a learning curve when you moved to lighter flywheel and performance clutch.

I had an Exedy Stage 2 Clutch w/ A Fidanza 8lb flywheel on my old CB and i taught numerous friends how to drive stick with this setup. After 4 friends and roughly 2 hours of jerking, stalling, grinding, and high revving (each person), this setup had withstood the abuse and performed as it did the first time i had it installed. I say go for it.

Every one is not the same, also the vehicle, yours withstand 8 hours of abuse is might not, he needs it for a DD, I don't think he want to stall in traffic or at stop light, or be running backwards down a slope. I won a total of $150 from 3 persons who drive a manual vehicle for a living, unable to move my car without stalling.

If the clutch on my h22 is shot (getting it Friday!!) than I'll be ordering the N2 sports clutch from Neuspeed.com since everything else they sell seems to be quite efficient. As for the flywheel, couldn't you just find one at the junk yard and have it re-surfaced?

nope, never ran into any issues, As long as its bled properly then I doubt you'll have problems. I bought all brand new parts though when i did my 5spd conversion, Slave cyl. from Autozone for 20 bucks w/ lifetime warranty, Bought Mr. Phil's lines and hardware and CMC but decided to upgrade to the SS lines since the hardlines looked kinda beat when the box was opened.

I do have some experience with manual transmissions, just not a ton. And although it is my daily driver, I do almost no city driving, it's mainly driving on long country roads.

I would say if your car is just a daily driver, stick to OEM. If you're not racing your car then why make it more difficult to just generally drive your car from point A to B? That's just how I see it.

Well I honestly have no idea how much of a difference it is with stock vs. aftermarket.
