From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.


The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.


For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.


Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

    Getting tuned this Friday

    So I've got an apointment for 9am at Mid Coast Performance this Friday and I've never had any of my vehicles dyno tuned before. I'm running an AEM Series 2 EMS and they told me that it would probably take around 4 hours to get it up and going at 100 dollars an hour.

    What should I be aware of when I go in?

    I'm not worried about HP output, I just want it to run reliably. For a 400 dollar tune should I be expecting to be fully tuned or what?

    fuck thats expensive. id expect a cold tune, part throttle tune, WOT (of course) and three dyno runs.

      Well, it's eather these guys or adrenaline motorsports but they couldn't even return my 4 phone calls and 3 E-mails on questions about getting the Hondata computer or tuning fees.

      I would really like to spend less money rather than more money, I'm getting married on the 10th of August and I only have a 40 dollar allowance per month. If I spend more than 1500 dollars total on getting my car built I have to start using my allowance money. I have 550 left and I have to rent a truck and trailer to get my car to the tuner because my friends are all "busy" and I still need an allignment and liscense plates which I was quoted 150 for the allignmetn and probably like 58 bucks for plates.

      I just want to have this tune go well. If my car blows up because of something I didn't do, I just might cry. I'm not starting the car AT ALL with that ECU in. My TPS is set, my sensors are hooked up and my wideband is installed and going to the ECU.

      I'm just nerveous as hell because if something goes wrong with tuning and it's not easy stupid stuff I've got to sell the car.

      I've never set up a new AEM EMS before so I don't know what's involved.

          all on the shop.
          def bring tools and extra parts.
          like ignitor and that kinda thing.

          not necessary but I have seen coils go bad in tuning sessions.
          screws everything all up.

          Do you have an oil press mechanical hooked up?

          those are just a few things. That plus a camcorder with tripod.
          I wish I would have just let my camcorder go the whole time.
          you can edit later. but so worth it to capture the entire event.

            I do have a mechanical pressure gauge hooked up.

            I'll bring all my tools but I don't have an extra ignitor. I replaced it like 6 months before my engine blew up in November of 08, so it's brand new.

            Unfortunately I don't have a camcorder but I will try and have my friend bring his REALLY nice camera.

            I just hope they can get it to idle right and rev properly. I'm all freaked out that somethings not going to be hooked up right and it's going to be more $$$ I have to pay to fix it or some stupid thing like that.

              Well, my car is at the tuner right now. They are going to wait until tomorrow when a friend of theirs can sow up with a base map for the car to get the AEM series 2 EMS going. That way it'll save me a LOT of time they say. I'll keep you guys informed.
