From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Sorry I briefly read the thread, but did not see if you ended up going with an aftermarket sleeve or not.

If you decided to keep the stock sleeve i am very interested in this. I would also be curious as to how a high mileage f22 block would fair.

My reason for that is the removal of strain due to years of low (as far as metals are concearned) teperaute annealing of the iron.

Many muscule car guys love to get high mileage blocks from junkyards for this verry reason.

    Regards, and best of luck

        blockguard installed with locktite 680

my cylinder head that is being used for a torque plate just got stripped. all guides, seats and casting plugs are out. going to bore these out to 88mm so i can use this up to a 88mm piston say in like a h22.

thats my main concern because i dont want blowby which i think is a big concern when boring these blocks out. ive been running into an issue with my DD rebuilt 85.5mm and blowby. dont know if it is the type of rings, ring end gap or the cylinder wall finish. it runs good, just consumer oil and has blow by which is destroying all the seals.

my boss has done tons of honda rebuilds without a torque plate and hasnt had an issue. boring and balancing the rotating assembly will maybe take 3 hours max. the torque plate ismy main concern.

pistons balanced to within a gram today.

need to balance the rods and bore the block still. i can also bring my crank in and polish it.

My current F23 block was not bored/honed with a torque plate. My Wiseco rings are are set at .0155" top and .021" second. I've got 1000 miles on the new engine and blow-by is minimal compared to my old nonvtec F23-based engine that lasted me heavily abused 60,000 miles anyway.

I suspect that the F22 sleeves are about the same thickness at 87mm bore as the F23 sleeves. The F23 block's got more aluminum gussets and whatnot than the F22 so it might be a little more ridgid. It will be interesting to see how your engine fares. I think it will be fine, I just lept at the chance of more displacement for the same price from the junkyard (bigger stroke, duh).

cool beans, i set my current 85.5mm f22 at .016 and .018 ring end gap.

ill keep this updated, i was planning on running a delta 262 but i kind of dont want to spend the extra dollars atm. my goal is to get it running reliability.

I was suposed to get the 272 but I haven't sent my core in yet ether. Even though $75 is a cheap price, I don't have any money right now. I was only going to buy it to see what the differences would be between a $75 272 regrind and a $300 cam.

What is this $300 cam? Are you talking about the bisi spec Web regrind cam?

pretty much, supposed to be the hot setup nowadays. i need a cam for my 86mm 12:1 build which is after this one and i was debating on building the head all out for this prototype that way the head would be complete. id be spending a whole lot of money on something that will potentially last for 5 minutes so i should wait and just keep this simple.

Talked with Cometic today and im going to send in a f22a headgasket and see if they can make it which im sure they can. H22's and K20 have the same bolt pattern.

                                -decked the block
-need to grind the bottom of the cylinders where the main webbing is so the honing head can clear since we bored so much out of the sleeves.
-sent in the f22 hg to cometics. hopefully, they'll have a blueprint of it and any bore size should be easy to order.
-Started on the cylinder head: exhaust side ported, perf valve job and radiused, all bronze guides installed and clearanced. Just need to finish off the exhaust valve job and surface it. Im going to be running a set of MINT A6 springs.

pretty much down to torque plate and headgasket. I still need to figure out my intake manifold, planning on h22 gutted upper and bored and port matched TB.

i have an 8lb h22 flywheel but it has one of those replaceable surfaces but i cant find the original company that makes the discs. i may have to try and make my own.
