Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

do it affect my car if the radiator cap is broken?

    the radiator cap is bad
    kinda cant open that easy
gotta twist back and forth to open

    does it affect my performance?

i already know to buy a new one

i just want to know what happens if i leave it as is

I think that it does effect performance because correct me if i am wrong but the cap give a certain pressure into the radiator and the radiator cools down the engine, but if the spring in the cap i alright and it is just hard to open you should be alright.

Thread is pointless, replace it. It is cheap. The real reason you created this thread is to see how long you can go without replacing it because you are cheap. Motor oil, motor coolant, manual tranny oil and brake/clutch fluid are key to your car, don't mess around if you actually need a car. Otherwise ditch the car and it will save you more money.

Your cap is designed to hold 16 psi or 1.1 bar, if it is broken then it potentially can not. In holding that pressure it raises the boiling point of your coolant. You can deduct what happens if it does not work properly.

the mechanic said the seal is bad.

but the temperature gauge is fine.

here's an idea. get jb weld and cold weld it shut. no pressure leaks, no seals to worry about.... perfect for a cheapo fix......
