Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    Titanium Valve Retainers

I was doing some research and found out the the titanium retainers that u get with most valve train upgrade dont last a long time and should be inspected periodically. They cant take high mileage. I called skunk2 racing and the tech guy said, they should be check and replace about 30,000 to 40,000 miles. That sucks. Has anybody experiance this problem, or have been runing titanium retainer setup for a long time.

if there is truth to that, why even be worried. if you are worrying about spending 200 bux tops on a set of ti retainers every 30k miles, you shouldnt do the mod upgrade then. i mean even still if you are building an n/a street, or boost street, i think you will have other issues to worry about in the 30k miles of use of the 200 dollar retainers.

im not sure if there is any truth behind it, but if you called S2 and talked directly to tech, i would think they are a knowledgable firm, and prob know what they are talking about.

ITs more to it then just $200 every 30,000 miles. I seen online that they can break earlier then that, and u must check on them on the regular. That means u have to keep taking off the cam, timing belt all the things u have to do to get to the retainers take them off and look under them to make sure that is no wear. An u know how it is when shit mess up at the wrong time. LOL

Yep, most people's motors don't last long enough to see it happen. Other things could make this more true however, stiffer valve springs, larger and longer cam lobes, rpms.
