Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    Hi-Flow Cat question

The guy at my local tuner shop said that a hi flow cat will improve my power by 100% and still be able to pass emissions. what kind of power gains can i expect from a hi flow cat? i dont want to go with a test pipe.

    thanks
    brad

I'd find another tuner shop to hang out at. They say our stock cat flows just fine. If all you're doing is the cat, keep the stock one. Tuner boy is probably trying to get yours for recycling, and he's going to sell you a test pipe, figuring by the time you pull it off and find out, it won't matter.

What makes you think it's going bad? DO you have emissions checks where you live? If you don't and it's not going to fall off the car, forget about it.

dude i built an exhaust with a new cat for 250. dont let anyone talk you into spending $$$ for shit you dont need. If your really worried about it buy a universal one for $70 and have it fitted on your car.

that place should be blown up...a high flow cat only does good on an extensively built N/A engine or with turbo apps...stock to moderate build the stock cat is fine.

with a cheap high flow cat you will not pass emissions...you will pay for a good one...but no point unless you meet above criteria

Pretty much the only thing you have to worry about is getting the right length and getting the flanges to fit, which they could probably just weld new flanges on at the shop.

What I would do is buy a Catco high flow cat from Summit Racing, if you really want to get a high flow cat. They're cheap and reliable.
