Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    I wrapped my headers today!

Well, I finally got around to doing it...btw, I definitely recommend taking the header out and doing it outside of the car...doing it in the car would be really difficult. Took me about 2 hrs since I took my time and had to be creative wrapping the part where they merge together. I added this in addition to oranger's thread in the DIY sect. so this should be helpful.

I present you....my newly wrapped header:

And here's the supplies I needed:

-two rolls of 15' by 2" wide exhaust insulating wrap (I only used about 19' of it though
-Snap Straps I bought a box of 12 but only 6 were needed
    -measuring tape
-needle nose pliers to pull the tape through tight clearances
-scissors to cut it to size
-latex gloves (this stuff is like bare fiberglass so it'll irritate you skin if you don't wear these)
-pan of water to make tape more pliable
TOTAL COST..............50 bucks....you don't need the big pack of snap straps or THAT much tape though, so you could prob. get this done for 30 or so

The spray just provides a layer of coating prolonging the life of the wrap

I was thinking about doing that, but then since I live in AZ, keeping moisture out isn't a problem, since its hot all the time and no rain in sight. The guy at the shop said as long as you drive it everyday, that'll keep it nice and dry.

and this is what it looks like after its been driven for one day....basically after its heat cycle, once its cured.

And about the HP gain....I definitely feel a little bit more pep in the high RPMs like from 50-70. But here's some proof that adding header wrap does gain HP.....about 12 in this guy's case on his built civic:

na I just did the upper portion... I was looking for a way to reduce engine bay temps and this really helped out a lot.

yea, what would happen if you scraped your downpipe too many times? all the wrap would come unraveling off!
