So the ecu sent a ground? Not a 12v signal? Oh noes!

Please DO NOT Post In The General Section
From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.
The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.
For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.
Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.
Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

will be an inestimable and invaluable resource for not only myself, but anyone who intends to attempt it.
I'm keeping my eye on this thread .... its just gets better and better .. and we all need to give props
to everyone that has committed to doing this mod, and has paved the way for all the rest ...
Keep up the great work everyone ..

The Intake Air Bypass System (1991) (IAB)
Description:
Two air intake paths are provided in the intake manifold to allow the selection of the intake path most favorable for a given engine speed.
Satisfactory power performance is achieved by closing and opening the intake air bypass (IAB) control valves. High torque at low RPM is achieved when the valves are closed, whereas high power at high RPM is achieved when the valves are opened.
The IAB system activates at 4,700 RPM for high horsepower.
PS: I just checked my IAB system and the solenoid on the control box is bad!! All this time and I had no idea... The IAB system should pull the control valve on the intake back AT IDLE. When I had someone start my car, it didnt move. I checked the valve by hooking a live vaccum hose from the engine and it pulled back okay. The plates were staying open all the time. I had thought my car was lacking torque which is why I decided to check it out. You should too.
New Solenoid: $117 from Majestic.
Just thought you guys would like this info.
Question... Does Honda incorporate the IAB system with VTEC engines? If not, could you install it and have it work in concert when the VTEC solenoid activates? Might be a cool HP gain. Just an idea.Last edited by xaxis360; 05-14-2005, 10:04 PM.

I'm almost certain the H22 uses them, and I would think they activate the same time as vtec, so yes. BTW he's right the ecu sends a ground signal, I got them backwards..

where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

Hello from Poland!
I buy 2 days ago 4 gen with F22A1 USDM spec (speed limiter, 125HP). this is my Second accord. first is is 2.2i EDM 150HP 200Nm 4 doors wit 5spd manual transmission, F22A3 engine - dual run and 4-2-1 exhaust in in stock spec.
I love this car and buy another.
My plan is swap exhaust header to 4-2-1 and intake manifold to Dual Run
I have problem with ECU choice
What ECU i need? USDM PT6 from EX or SE -i know. But any other work without modyfication with Dual Runners?
I found on ebay ecu pt6 but from car with Automatic Transmision. AT Is problem or not? I have 5 spd manual in this car.
sorry , but my english is not good. I use "serach" but i dont understand everything. And ask another time. sorry again.

Uh I don't think thats harold, but yes you need a pt6 ecu, or you can use a vacuum tube connected to the intake manifold. You shouldn't have much problems using an auto ecu in a 5-speed car, I wouldn't but if you have less availability on parts you might have to take what you can get. I would read through this thread in it's entirety, and a search for, pt6*, or intake manifold, or similiar should get all your answers...I'd go find and link them to you, but I'm not in the mood right now, maybe later

just had a smog test...it passed
NoX was 451 (near limit) last time, now it is 150 after cleaning the EGR ports =)...so i recomend that
have fun dudes! What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.
You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

i need more info how to hook up your black box to a vacuum source.
i have a f22a1, so far i know what is there to know about this H23 IM but the hooking up of a black box is confusing ( i know it controls the butterflies )

Sorry to thread Jack but nwould also like to know how to wire the black box I'm doing this on Monday and would like to know so far this is all I found on google.
Quote;
If your vehicle is already OBD1, all you need to do is wire a single wire from OBD1 Pin A17 to one side of a 2 Pin connector (that connects to your IABs) and the other side to 12 volts constant.* Read the OBD2 method for more info.* The process is basically the same.
I found that the wires from the black box plug are #1 pink and blue and #2 are black and yellow.

I would really like to figure out how to make the iab's work without the black box. They are hard as hell to find around here and most of the time dont work anyway. I know that there are some vacuum solenoids being used on some of the automatic cars like the one thats behind the intake manifold and then there is one next to the battery and intake. My car lacks the low end and it sucks when I am pulling a trailer. but I feel like I am being rear ended when I hit 4.5k rpms. I wonder if a re-tune will help the low end. And if anybody didnt know thats keeping up with this thread, the upper intake manifold from an H22a will fit the a6 lower part. The H22a upper allows for more air because its wider and has a bigger throttle body, at least over the a1 it does.
