Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    rattling exhaust

My exhaust has recently started to rattle. I think that I have found the source. It seems to be a flat metal plate coming down at a slight angle from directly behing the cat. The rattling doesn't seem to happen until the car is fully warmed up. I think the plate might be a heat shield of some kind. Any one else experienced this problem. If anyone knows how to fix this problem, please let me know. Thanks!

hehe ahh the heat sheild aorund the cat. try and squeeze it with a rag and ur fingers and see if u hear rattling...pinpoint the spot...get some JB weld or some super high temp glue and glue that point. some people rip off that piece...but id be scared cause things can catch fire...

there are other alternatives...some drill a new hole on the sheild and put a new bolt and nut to hold it down....

    sounds nasty huh?

i wonder if i have the location right?
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

Thanks. I will try that. The plate that is rattling is not actually the cats heat shield. It is kinda connected to it. It comes down at an angle from the back of the cats heat shield. I will have to get under there and see exactly what is making the noise. Thanks again.
