    some little problem

ok guys this is going to sound REAL old school.

i have my stock honda casette player, only reason why i have it is because i run my mp3 player through the casette adapter, sounds great, have no problems. my "clean" light has been on for a while, so today i went to wal mart and got a casette head cleaner, i put it in and let it run for about 2 minutes. took it out, and then put my casette adapter in. after i put it in...my sound sucked, cant listen to anything unless i put full volume on both mp3 and deck. when i put a reg casette in, it seems to be fine. what could solve this problem ?
its annoying and hope it gets better.

If regular cassettes still work with no problems it could be the cassette adapter itself. I thought those use a belt between the supply and take up reels since there is no tape moving like a regular cassette.

        Try another cassette adapter.
If the sound was low on regular cassettes it could have been dirty tape heads or pinch rollers. Its better to clean tape decks with alcohol and medical swabs (the q-tips with long wooden handles).

i have gone through three different adapters so far, and they all have sucked
im going to try one more, and see if it works or not.
          if it doesnt
might be time to get a CD player.

Have these other adapters worked successfully in other headunits on other vehicles?

FM modulators are never as good as hard-wired.

You might try a different tape adapter, maybe that one is messed up. I used to do the same thing, and on one of mine the wire got messed up where it goes into the tape, and it sounded messed up.

What you ought to do is look into getting a low dollar cd player with an aux input on it. That's what I ended up doing, and so now I can listen to CDs and my iPod, and for a while I was using the same aux in for my sirius before I got rid of that. You can get cheap ones for under $100.

yeah thats how the problem started, the main one i had since like last year, the wire messed up on it, or it was working great. thats where i had to get a new one, and thats where the issues started. i might get a cd player with a AUX on it, but i like my stock stereo because its original and it sounds pretty good. so idk what im going to do, im prob going to get another adapter, that doesnt work..i might get a new cd player.

Real quick, and I only ask because I did the same thing once, you made sure the plug was into the mp3 player all the way, right? I was going around a corner and my ipod flew off the seat and slammed into the door, and the plug came slightly out so it was only working on one channel of the stereo plug. I totally thought I messed up my ipod, cause it hit so hard. It took me a while to figure out that it had just unplugged a little bit.

im not sure what screwed it up.

i agree fm modulators suck, but the guy was using a cassette adapter, sound quality didnt seem to have been much ofa concern.

just buy a deck with a ipod interface.

yeah man with all the hassle you went through, you coulda bought an Alpine CDA-9883 cd player w/ Ipod connectivity, like me It was 205 at Best Buy. It's built for Ipod's and has a special aux jack for it. Plus it plays CD's. so why not upgrade? its 2008!

yeah i might upgrade soon hahaha
only reason why i still have it is because it doesnt give me problems
and i like it, it sounds great for a stock radio, and esp with the
adapter and my MP3 player, it hits.
