    insite on quality sound

I have not posted here before.
I want my radio to sound like a awsome bosse surround sound theatre.

i want the rumbel without the subs.

I want the biggest speakers i can put in my factory placing in the back deck.

I want the best sounding speakers all the way around with a great head unit thats easy to use.

I will be getting a amp to run all these components. Tell me where to start.
    I'm ignorent. so list

    tweeters? 1.
    rear speakers 2.
    front speakers 3.
    amp 4.
    headunit 5.
    mid speakers? 6.

The best setup is a component setup, that would consist of a driver, (for bass and mids), and a tweeter (for highs). Make sure you get the speakers with a crossover to match. The best decks are the ones with customability, as far as being able to manipulate the sound, and tune it precisely to the music you're listening to.

I personally like Pioneer and Alpines decks for adjustability. You need an amp, as you already know, to push the component setup, as factory decks only push 17-22 watts RMS on average.

Urdonesrh can give you a lot of helpful info on a good setup, personally though, if I were going to get components, I'd either go with JL Audio, or Boston Acoustics. Not saying thats the best though, its just the best based on my experience.

x2 on the budget. good advice so far. i love alpine. and id recommend a sub for bass, components will get u some midbass, but if you want a lil thump your going to need a 10" sub or maybe cut out your rear deck and fit some 8" mids up there... or down in your kick. bigger isnt always better when it comes to good sounding speaker setups.

I've actually went through a few different set of speakers. From factory to cheap to top of the line.

I ended up using a set of MB Quart QSC 216 front speakers. The sound quality is Great, They are very loud and clear. I never had a single problem with distortion.
They are rated for 170watts each side but I have sent more than 220watts RMS to each and had not a single problem.

Deck is a Kenwood eXcelon KDC-X889. The kenwood excelon series are among some of the best decks made right now. They are a couple steps above what alpine has to offer now. They are even up there with Eclipse top of the line's.

Sub: I removed my sub this year but In the past I had MB Quart Premium 15". They are GREAT SQ subs, They are deep and clean.

i looked and someone actually has 8 inch speakers bolted in the original deck spot in the back. already but they are cheepish. they still have the covers over them, whitch is nice.

bruno: if your saying your kenwood deck pushed ur speakers iwth 220 watts... i bet thats your max power rating. you were maybe pushing 25w to the speakers if it was running off the deck. max power ratings are never true, always follow rms.

and your basing the excelon is better off of what? have you checked out the f1 status series? dont base an entire brand off of a couple low end stereos. alpine type r and f1 status are badass shit, i personally despise kenwood equipment, i see way more kenwoods come back than alpines (excluding the auto-tilt faces) for stuck cds, error codes, etc.

Keele: for a grand you could get a nice sounding system. i would go with some alpine type r components in the front, alpine 4ch amp, type r 2way in the rear. and depending on how much u have left, a small 200-300w amp and run a 10" type r in a sealed box.

you will have a bangin system, right around a grand i beleive. i didnt add them up because i only know the prices by my discounted rate.

have you been looking at any specific equipment? and i forgot to ask what kind of tunes do u listen to?

i was like you before, wanting the best sound with no sub....honestly the best sound is with a small sub.

i didnt have the brightest system but to my ears they were lovley, a nice balance of mid lows and highs.

I had polk components in the front doors with the tweeter mounted by the speaker and not high, had rear 6x9 tpe r speakers (which werent all that) and a 4 channel amp running them (45 wattsx4). For the sub i had a smaller mtx 4500 sub in a single sealed box powered by a audiobahn amp.

honestly it sounded awsome, not too bassy but not ugly, it was clean sounding.

oh i had a alpine double din head unit which wasnt the best in output to the amps.

so concidering all that it was a nice clean and crisp sound.

for a budget of 1000 dollars i think you can do alot with that money. if you dont want deep bass then dont go with a sub....i had my 6x9 rocking with an amp and it was hiting some decent notes but i found that it wouldnt hit the DEEPer notes like found in todays songs.

                deck-already had it
                polk components-200
                type s speaker-100
                4 channel amp alpine mrpf240-80
                audiobahn a40002t-130
                mtx 4500-80
                box-25 (mtx bass slammer)
                misc wiring and rca's-130

Go with a good headunit with higher volt output more than 2 volts =)

in my van right now, i have a

                  pioneer 6900ub stereo w/4volt preout
                  polk components in the front
                  mtx speakers in the rear
my mtx 4500 12'' box, sometimes my l7 10'' but soon to be upgraded to my mtx 7500 powered by audiobahn a4002t amp
                  alpine mrpf240-4channel
the amps are hidden and only the sub shows, trust me when people turn up their music they distort...when i turn it up mine screams and they look at me and say "wtf"

compared to the accord with the shitty deck, this deck made a whirl of a difference.

I'm with UrDone on recommending Alpine. It's hard to go wrong, and they're very reasonably priced with great sound.

                    Type R 6.5" components for front ~$140
                    Type R 6.5" 2-ways for rear ~$90
                    MRP-F450 4-channel amp ~$200
                    MRP-M450 for sub ~$140
                    SWR-1042D Type R 10" sub ~$120
                    CDA-9885 CD/MP3/WMA/AAC disc player ~$290

                    Total ~$980

You'd end up with a fantastic sounding and very versatile system and be right around budget.

                        2ways for the rear??

IS a 4way the best buy for a 6x9 setup.

i mean 3ways are great, but a 4way i havnt heard them yet.

I've never heard of a 4-way speaker. Components, 2-ways and 3-ways are all fairly common. 3-ways can tend to be a little tinny, IMO. Too many high-frequency drivers, perhaps. A quality 2-way 6x9, like Alpine Type R's or similar, would work very well.

                            Pioneer 4WAY 6x9

Experience smooth sound with A-Series. Pioneer's exclusive technology enriches your music by producing clear, open sound. Bring out the details of your music with A-Series speakers. How do we improve on the TS-A speakers each year? Heres how. Our TS-A6982R 6 x 9 4-ways now feature upgraded power handling of 440 watts max. (80 watts nominal). And were continuing to lead the industry with next-generation technology for improved sound: the cones, magnets, surrounds, the voice coil wire, the basket and more are all high-performance components that make up a great speaker. Lastly, we redesigned the speaker grille to compliment the excellence of our A-Series speaker. Composite IMPP Cone with Interlaced Dual Aramid Fiber One of our major speaker breakthroughs was IMPP (Injection-Molded Polypropylene), which allowed cones to be lighter AND more rigid. Then we added long stands of Aramid fibers into the mix, for extra strength. Now, weve gone even further with the TS-A6982R, adding a second type of Aramid fiber that makes the cone even stronger and tougher, without adding weight. So what does this mean to you? Tighter, more powerful bass. A rich, natural sound character with excellent midrange depth. And the durability to stand up to the high volume levels, humidity, and temperature extremes that thrash other speakers. Balanced-Dome Midrange with Laminated Polyester Fiber Better technology, better performance: instead of conventional materials, we used a laminated polyester fiber in our new balanced-dome midrange, the same material used in the high-end REV-series speakers. The key to this material is that it is 30% lighter than conventional materials. That difference in weight means faster and more accurate response, for exceptionally clean, detailed music. Heat Resistant Polyester-Imide Resin Voice Coil Wire Creating mechanical energy is hot work, especially at high volume levels. And as we all know, heat can cause distortion. Thats why the TS-A6982R uses a heat-resistant polyester-imide resin voice coil wire. It allows the voice coil to handle more heat, improving input power handling as well as reliability. So go ahead. Turn it up. Power Handling The TS-A6982R now handles a full 440 watts max. power (80 watts nominal). So, what did we have to give up? Not a thing. Along with bigger power handling, you still get the same high performance that all the TS-As deliver.

Pioneer makes decent speakers for the money, but for my money, I'd stick with the Alpine Type R's. Pioneer speakers have a tendency to be extremely bright, and usually need some EQ tuning to reduce their excessive high-frequency tendencies. They hurt my ears.
