yo i dont compete yet, the cb is not the greatest car for car audio, at least competition wise.
im lookin at possibly doin my next car at competition level. prolly run some RE subs, them shits are EXPENSIVE tho. my boys shop is runnin 2 re XXX 18s with 15000 watts across 5 or 7 amps (i forget which) that shit is loud.Comment

i did one at a car show. my 2 12w0's in a box made for looks, not absolute performance, pointing the wrong way, still made 133.7 db, which i'm happy with. its loud enough for me! now i need to deaden it...

the cb is actually a great car for SQ.... if you know what your doing. now the loudest i have gotten with the cb i was running a 12 inch type R and a PGxs2500 and did a 139.7. now im running 2 8's on about half the power. but that will change here in the near future i hope to get each sub around 1k. you think RE is expensive have you checked out Digital designs??? haha both a high price but both are killer product. on the subject of the XXX the new ones im not too into it .... for that price u can get much better of a woofer.Comment

iv yet to compete in my cb, iv got a digital designs 9512 dual .5 ohm ,with a 2000wrms caliber amp (same company as DD) .
In my sunbird with a fully dynamatted trunk and an spl tuned box I hit 148.8

sounds like a sweet setup...... i would love to see numbers from the cb...... just a fyi in mine when i had a single 12' i had the sub facing back and loading off the trunk. when i had it forward it was a 2 db quieter.Originally posted by 1loudaccordComment

i had a comp this weekend and the old gal did 137.7 with 2 DD 1508's 8 inch subs. a memphis 4KW=4000 watt amp i was running at 2 ohm so i got about 2k out of it . i won bassrace 120-129.9 and second in street c nowall lol there was only 2 of us lol and i had to be in a pro class being i work at a shop lol. ill get some pics of the trophies and the numbers will be on termpro in a few days steve has to get them updated lol.... show was a blast FYI and i actually sat in a car that does 160+ lol..... i dealt with 15secs of being the in port of our comp car for shits and giggles. it was for the drive by class which we did a 120ish OUTSIDE of the car. and the upset of the show was actually the cb7 of mine beating out the guy running kicker .....Comment

i agree that it can be good for sql or spl after finally gettin my shit done and dampening real well in my trouble spots.. ive also decided not to sell my car, but you have to do a lot of work to make it sound good. and i do know what im doing thank you. and im MECP certfied haha. i know everyone hates on it but it gives legitimacy to our industry so ill take part. anyway.
im runnin 2 alpine type-r 12s in tuned custom boxes, the whole trunk is done. ill get pics up as soon as i find the cord for my camera or buy a new one from work. ive also got type r 2 way in the rear (which are switching out for components because i can hear distortion in them) and i already have components in the front, im also going to run a center channel with a small speaker which im still looking for right now, to put in the center vents. i also needa new 4ch cuz i fd up my other one messing around with it. i plan on putting in 8" subs into the rear panels also when i run the center channel stuff.
after all the crap im doing i need to upgrade my alternator.
my homies shop has a chevy astro van running 15000w to 2 RE 18" its sick wit it lol shits seriously loud tho, makes your body feel like "wtf!", its hard to breath, makes your ears hurt bad after a short time... in short, its beautiful soundingComment

new numbers up for my car lol. im now running 4 dd 1508's and a memphis 2500d amp with 2 yellow tops 1 is a group34 and the other is 31 sign by scottie johnson. on a burp i can do 143.0 on the dash at 41hz. now on music i can do 141 all day long.... lol its pretty crazy my buddy with a teg has a video cam and we are gonna soo some flex vids just to give some ideas to people of how loud the cars are.......Comment

im gonna make it more though cuz right now ive got 1 alpine mrp-850 runnin 2 12" type rs wired to 4ohm then parallel to the amp dropping it to 2ohms. im gonna add a 2nd amp so i can drop each sub to 2ohms... ive also thought about bringin a 3rd amp/sub in the picture and fillin in the rest of the trunk or redoing it.

actually i do have plans of keeping that setup and just finishing the box. maybe a 3rd batt and then the HO alt. but now i get to start working on my 2 cb. i got a 92 ex 2 door 5spd i am putting a fresh motor in and gonna build that one up a alittle and then im goin nuts with my 4 door.Comment
